Marble Falls chamber hosts free Back to the Future drive-in movie

The Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce is hosting a free Drive-In showing of Back to the Future with the gates opening at 8:30 p.m. tonight Friday, June 5 in the Marble Falls High School parking lot. Attendees can also help support the chamber by purchasing available concessions. Pre-order free tickets. Donations at the event are welcome. Space is limited to 144 cars. The UIL legislative council met virtually on Friday morning to discuss a new agenda item that would most likely lead to a temporary permissible increase of summer practices and instruction for high school athletes.

The agenda was passed to expand the authority of UIL executive director Charles Breithaupt allowing him to make adjustments to UIL rules during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. …

Three area churches banded together to ensure celebration of an important Christian holiday was not lost to restrictions of gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak.

First Baptist Church Marble Falls, Lake Shores Church and Rockpile Church hosted a drive-in Easter worship and service in the parking lot of Marble Falls High School on Sunday, April 12 starting at 10 a.m.

Marble Falls ISD runners continue training with virtual coach

Prohibition of formal practices haven't changed much for Marble Falls High School long-distance runners. Coach Chris Schrader charges the athletes with self-guided workouts even when school is in session. MFHS runners Bryer Atkinson, Chris Talamantez, Bryce Atkinson, Jennifer Arreguin and Sayra Salazar met with Burnet High School runner Hudson Bennett at Granite Park in Granite Shoals on the morning of Wednesday, April 8 for a run around the Manzano Hike Bike and Run Trail.

For the students of Kyle Holton's ag power class at Marble Falls High School, accepting jobs from local entities is about more than just refining their welding skills.

“It feels good to help people,” said junior Ayden Humphreys.

Holton, MFHS ag science teacher, agreed to construct a barbecue pit for His Joshua House, a Kingsland-based drug and alcohol recovery house for men. …

Marble Falls High School graduate Chris Schlicke, now head girls basketball coach at Veribest High School, led his team to the State semifinals after a 27-25 win over Hermleigh in the 1A Regional final on Saturday, Feb. 29 in Abilene. Hermleigh had defeated Veribest in their previous three meetings, but Schlicke's team got over the hump this season -- his first as head coach -- with defensive acumen and clutch shooting. The Lady Falcons lost in the State semifinal match on Thursday, March 5.
