McLeod an H-E-B Excellence Award nominee

Kimberlee McLeod had a $1,000 surprise in her Marble Falls High School (MFHS) classroom today, March 6.
Representatives of H-E-B arrived about 10 a.m. to announce the English Language Arts chairman is a finalist for a 2018 H-E-B Excellence in Education Award.
The H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards spotlight teachers among the best educators in Texas. McLeod joins the Marble Falls Independent School District in that spotlight. MFISD is one of only three Small District Finalists for the prestigious 2018 H-E-B Excellence in Education District Award
McLeod was invited with five teachers and two principals from around the state to Houston on May 5-6 to compete on a statewide level for larger cash prizes totaling $430,000.
McLeod received balloons, flowers, cookies, a check for $1,000 for MFHS, and is a finalist for The Rising Star Award. The six winning teachers include one elementary and one secondary teacher in each of three categories. The Rising Star Award honors exceptionally promising teachers with less than 10 years of experience. All of the winners will receive $5,000 checks for themselves and $5,000 grants for their schools. “My parents brought us up to become leaders and give back to our community,” said McLeod after receiving the award. “This award is such a validation of all of the hard work and care put in to teaching 150 students each day!” The 2018 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards is one of the largest monetary awards program for educators in Texas and the nation. H-E-B launched the Excellence in Education Awards program in cooperation with the Texas Association of School Administrators in 2002 as a positive way to support public education in Texas. It has become the largest monetary program for educators in the state, spotlighting best practices and celebrating the passion and creativity of Texas educators.
