MFISD trustees approve new head band director
Anthony Leflet
During the District’s May 21 meeting, the Marble Falls Indepentent School District trustees approved Supt. Dr. Chris Allen’s recommendation to name Anthony Leflet as the new head band director for Marble Falls High School.
Leflet replaces retiring band director, Brad Behrens, who served MFISD for 20 years.A band director hiring committee comprised of Fine Arts stakeholders, MFHS staff, and MFISD administrators helped sort and interview finalists for the Band Director position. The top candidates were then forwarded to the superintendent prior to final selection and presentation to the Board.
Leftlet has served Hays High School as the Head Band Director for the last 20 years. In addition to his duties as the head band director for Hays, a 6A program, Leflet was responsible for the Hays High school band feeder program.
He managed all aspects of the band and choir programs at Barton, Dahlstrom, and McCormick Middle Schools.
Prior to his tenure at Hays, Leflet served as the Assistant Band Director at Bay City High School.
Leflet is a Texas State University graduate, earning his Master of Music Education in 2001. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music from Texas State in 1996. Leflet will join the MFISD family with his wife, Yarda, Falls’ new Principal, and his two children, Jack and Jonathon.
“I am very excited that Mr. Leflet is joining us at Marble Falls High School,” said MFHS principal, Damon Adams. “He has a proven track record for success and his bands consistently earn sweepstakes year after year. What impresses me most, though, is his focus is not on trophies, but on loving and inspiring kids. The awards are a result of his commitment to that mission. He is a perfect fit for our campus and I couldn’t be more thrilled for him to be here.”
