Dulin convicted of 12 crimes against children

A Granite Shoals man has been found guilty on 12 of 13 charges against him by a Burnet County jury, which now is expected to deliberate on his punishment.

Bryant Edward Dulin, 45, was convicted on a first-degree felony charge of super aggravated sexual assault of a child under the age of 6 as well as nine counts of aggravated sexual assault, one count of continuous sexual abuse of a young child and one count of indecency with a child.

The jury found Dulin not guilty on one count of sexual performance by a child, the only count on which he was not convicted of late Monday.

Dulin's trial began June 11 and both the prosecution and defense finished presenting evidence in the trial of Bryant Edward Dulin by the afternoon of Friday, June 15. Closing arguments began Monday, June 18, and the jury returned the verdict that evening.

A Burnet County grand jury indicted Dulin, 45, in April 2017 on 11 counts of offenses amounting to alleged sexual crimes against children spanning 13 years, including at least one child who was younger than age 6 when the offense occurred.

The indictment, filed in the 424th Judicial District Court, traces a pattern of behavior that began as early as 2003 with a charge of indecency with a child by sexual contact (touching genitals of a child), a second degree felony, and advanced through nine first-degree felony counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, committed over the years (all punishable by 10-99 years of life in prison).

The final charge, sexual abuse of a child continuous: victim under 14, is punishable by from 25-99 years or life in prison.

His arrest on a Granite Shoals warrant in December specified the outcry of a victim younger than the age of six who alleged she had been made to sleep with Dulinwithout clothing and that he touched her “in such a way that also caused pain.”

That instance, in which Dulinwas charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, lead to a protective order granted against Dulin, who was under investigation by the Marble Falls Police Department based on outcry by adult victims, who said they had been violated as children.

Less than an hour after a judge signed the protective order, Dulin was allegedly across from a day care center one of his victims had sometimes attended, law enforcement officers said.
