The Texas National Guard will set up a COVID-19 mobile testing site at the Burnet County Fairgrounds, 1301 Houston Clinton Drive, in Burnet at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 25.

Those who have appointments will be screened to see if they have fever and/or chills, cough (dry or productive), fatigue, body aches/muscle or joint pain, shortness of breath, sore throat, headaches, nausea/vomiting, nasal congestion and a loss of taste and/or smell.

At the height of the COVID-19 concerns about access to testing and care, a local hospital has suspended non-emergency procedures to divert healthcare professionals to patient care associated with the coronavirus and other critical health issues, officials said.

As of Sunday, March 29, Burnet County now has three confirmed cases of COVID-19 within the county and officials are continuing to expect more positive tests in the next few days, County Judge James Oakley said.

Burnet County Judge James Oakley on Wednesday, March 18, declared a state of disaster for Burnet County due to a public health emergency in an effort to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The order activates the county's emergency management plan for the next seven days unless the state of disaster is continued by the Burnet County Commissioners Court, who were to meet Thursday, March 18.

Included with the declaration were a set of recommendations by the Burnet County Health Authority and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) the county was advising the public to follow:

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has signed a proclamation certifying that exceptional drought conditions continue to pose a threat of imminent disaster in several counties including Blanco, Burnet and Llano counties due to persistent drought conditions. …

The question of a burn ban wasn’t included on Tuesday’s Llano County Commissioners Court meeting agenda, but that makes little difference in the ban itself. The ban remains in effect until either the court changes it, or County Judge Ron Cunningham declares the need for a burn ban over.

That seems unlikely to happen soon . . . .

October 16^th marked one year since the Highland Lakes Floods of 2018.

We celebrated ‘House Blessings’ this week with two individuals as they were officially welcomed back home after completion of repairs from flood damage.

This makes five Home Blessings and one Vehicle Blessing we have completed in the last couple of months.
