Marble Falls changes water restrictions to stage 3

The City of Marble Falls downgraded from a critical to severe water shortage, easing some of the restrictions for domestic water use among residents, according to an April 5 press release.

The change in restriction level reflected a move from stage 4 to stage 3 in the city of the Marble Falls Drought Contingency Plan.

Damage to the water plant intake system from the October flood event initially prompted mandatory stage 5 restrictions, and for the past several months residents were under stage 4 restrictions.

Entering into stage 3 gives residents more water use options, including:

• Irrigation of landscaped areas utilizing spray irrigation which includes hose-end sprinklers, soaker hoses and automatic irrigation systems shall be limited to a once weekly watering schedule;

• Outdoor watering hours for spray irrigation will be permitted from midnight to 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. to midnight on designated days. This prohibition does not apply to irrigation of landscaped areas if it is by means of a hand-held hose with a positive shut-off device, drip irrigation systems or a faucet-filled bucket or watering can of 5 gallons or less.

The watering schedule is as follows:

• Residential, odd-numbered addresses – Tuesday; even-numbered addresses – Thursday;

• Commercial, even-numbered addresses – Monday; odd-numbered addresses – Friday; Public Schools – Wednesday.
