Granite Shoals PD: Gun-wielding suspect shot at officers

Police tased a Granite Shoals man and charged him with attempted capital murder after he allegedly fired gunshots outside and from inside his travel trailer while officers were at his door step, according to a press release from the Granite Shoals Police Department.

The incident, which prompted SWAT response, unfolded just after 9 a.m. on April 10 at a property in the 2200 block of Washington Drive in Granite Shoals.

According to the report, Gregory Edward Beversdorf, 55, of Granite Shoals fired a shotgun outside his residence and inside his residence as officers' from several agencies staged on the grounds . . .

The incident prompted temporary evacuations of nearby residents, and after about an hour Beversdorf eventually surrendered following phone negotiations with police. Officers deployed a Taser on him, and he was treated and released by an emergency crew at the scene.

The suspect faces charges of attempted capital murder of a peace officer, first degree felony; aggravated assault with deadly weapon against a public servant, first degree felony; and deadly conduct (discharging a firearm), third degree felony.
