Pending the signing of an agreement with the selected contractor, work on the planned Granite Shoals sports complex could start “within a month,” officials said.

The work includes refurbishing buildings on the site, adjacent to Granite Shoals City Hall, 221 N. Phillips Ranch Road.

City Manager Jeff Looney told city council members at their April 9 meeting that the H.D. Irvin Steel Construction Co. of Granite Shoals was awarded the contract to fix the floor and refurbish the buildings that make up the Roddick Tennis Center.

The city council earlier approved awarding the bid to the company.

Work on the building, Phase I of the sports complex, will cost the city $135,000. . . .
