There will be three new faces on the Meadowlakes City Council after voters elected the bloc of Barbara Peskin, Eddie Wise and Gerry Mason on Saturday, May 4.

Wise defeated Steve Newton, 256-162, to win the Place 4 seat vacated when former Councilmember Ed O'Hayre resigned earlier this year. Wise is a licensed electrician and former member of the IBEW Board of Directors who formerly served on the Texas State Labor Management Relations Committee and the Texas Economic Development Committee.

Meanwhile, Mason defeated incumbent Place 5 Councilmember Bob Brown, 263-158. Mason, a retired oilfield worker, served on the Meadowlakes Property Owners Association board of directors and was in charge of streets, parks and fences. He also helped with the creation of the new Veterans Park and First Responders Park as well as beautification of Lakeside Park.

Peskin ran unopposed for the Place 2 seat currently held by Jim Woods, who did not seek re-election. Peskin, who owns a bookkeeping and tax return business, is a former MPOA board member and was temporary treasurer of Hidden Falls Golf Club when it changed from private to public ownership.

Wise, Mason and Peskin all ran for City Council after the city unsuccessfully tried last year to evict MPOA from property it has leased the past 34 years to operate a 90-unit RV and boat storage facility. . . .
