TXDOT announces Kingsland's 2900 Bridge completition ceremony

As crews poured the final concrete slab section May 15, officials announced the new Kingsland RM 2900 Bridge will meet a deadline for completion to accommodate an upcoming public grand opening ceremony for the structure, officials said.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) scheduled a ribbon cutting at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 24 for the replacement bridge in Llano County across the Llano River at the confluence of Lake LBJ.

Historic flooding on Oct. 16 washed away the structure, which is a main thoroughfare for the community and surrounding commuters.

Crews fast-tracked the completion for seven months after it was destroyed.

Officials scheduled to speak at the event are U.S. senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz, U.S. Rep. Roger Williams, Texas Transportation Chairman J. Bruce Bugg, Jr. and Llano County Judge Ron Cunningham, Llano County Commissioners Linda Raschke, Mike Sandoval and Peter Jones.

A ceremonial walk across the bridge followed by a ribbon cutting is planned.

TxDOT officials will announce the timeline to allow vehicle traffic to begin utilizing the bridge on that day.
