From staff reports
A school bus carrying about a dozen students on its way to an elementary school and a second vehicle collided on Ranch Road 1431 East of Marble Falls on May 29, resulting in at least one serious injury and a temporary roadway closure.
The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. as the Marble Falls ISD school bus was traveling west about two miles east of Marble Falls on its way to drop of children at Colt Elementary School.
According to first responders on the scene, an eastbound vehicle and the bus collided. The driver of the vehicle was airlifted to an Austin area ER with “serious” injuries, officials said.
Following the crash, Marble Falls ISD officials delivered another school bus to load the children and transport them to the school. No injuries were reported. Parents were notified.
As crews cleared the scene, the roadway remained closed for about two-and-a-half hours. Traffic was re-routed back to Marble Falls and to the Burnet area in order to access communities such as Lago Vista, Jonestown, the Cedar Park area and farther east.
The identity of the injured driver is pending. The Texas Department of Public Safety is conducting the investigation.
