Boaters wanting to access Lake LBJ from Granite Shoals public boat ramps may face fees in the future if the council approves a new policy.

The City of Granite Shoals is considering the implementation of a boat launching fee, assessed to both residents and visitors, to counter rising costs of ramp maintenance.

City Manager Jeff Looney presented the first draft of an ordinance on Tuesday, July 9 that establishes the baseline for future discussions about the proposal.

The initial proposition calls for a $10 fee to be assessed to “any individual who seeks to launch a boat or watercraft at the park launching ramp.” Annual launch passes would be available to frequent users – $20 for residents of the city and $200 for non-residents . . . .
