Granite Shoals bids for waste collection

The City of Granite Shoals is calling for sealed proposals for residential, commericial and industrial solid waste collection and disposal.

The city's current contract with Waste Management expires in November; City Manager Jeff Looney said the sealed bids process can take up to six weeks to complete.

Representatives from Waste Management presented options to the council on June 11, but Looney said none of the options would keep the current rate.

Council members wanted more options for pickup, including different sized receptacles and a different pickup day. Mayor Pro Tem Jim Davant requested a Monday bulk pickup day to accommodate those who perform yard work on the weekend. . . .
