Batla named new Horseshoe Bay fire chief

The new Horseshoe Bay fire chief is no stranger to towns which straddle a county line, and no stranger to Horseshoe Bay, either.
Brent Batla was unanimously named the city's next fire chief during the Oct. 15 Horseshoe Bay City Council meeting.
Batla succeeds former Fire Chief Joe Morris, who left the position to move to South Carolina on Aug. 23. Assistant Chief Stephanie Black had been serving as interim HSB chief since Morris' departure.
Batla has been the deputy fire chief and emergency management assistant coordinator for the city of Burleson, which is a subdivision of Fort Worth, located in both Johnson and Tarrant counties. . . .
