Gov. Abbott eases more COVID-19 restrictions with phase II

Governor Greg Abbott May 18 announced the second phase of the State of Texas' ongoing plan to safely and strategically open the state while minimizing the spread of COVID-19.

Under Phase II, restaurants may increase their occupancy to 50 percent and additional services and activities that remained closed under Phase I may open with restricted occupancy levels and minimum standard health protocols laid out by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).

Concerns about surfaces that may transmit the virus motivated the firefighters with the Horseshoe Bay Fire Department to get creative with their methods for cleaning equipment. A death, ruled a suicide, outside of a Horseshoe Bay pharmacy, has prompted support from the community for the owner and staff of the local business.

“We are still working with the police to determine what the suspect's motive was to choose our location for his actions,” Bay Pharmacy Owner Jason Pool said. “We have received overwhelming support from the community as this is a difficult time for us.”
