James Leslie Anders

August 18,  1950 — December 2, 2019

James Leslie Anders was born August 18, 1950 in a one room doctor’s office in Celina, Texas.

He earned his nickname “Bo” from his big sister Cathy, because she could not say “brother” when he was born and she could only say, “Bo”. He passed away surrounded by his family on December 2, 2019 at the age of 69.

Bo was an all-state linebacker at Texas City High School. His career on the football field earned him many honors. Bo received a full scholarship to play football at LSU. After one year at LSU, he transferred to The University of Texas at Austin and was part of their 1969 National Championship Football Team.

He married his high school sweetheart, Frann Anders and they had two children, Stacy and Justin.  Bo was a custom home builder for 20 years, building homes in Horseshoe Bay and the surrounding Hill Country.

He raised and trained race horses and bird dogs, loved gardening, especially growing his peppers and tomatoes. Bo was an avid fisherman and spent a great deal of time on Lake Buchanan. He enjoyed passing along his love of fishing to his grandchildren.

Bo was a loyal Houston Astros fan starting at the age of twelve years old and watching the Astros win the World Series in 2017 was a dream come true. Yet, nothing made Bo smile bigger than Andrew, Zach, Emma, and Cate. His eyes would light up anytime he was around his four grandchildren.

Bo was most at home on the water fishing and we hope the lake is calm and the fish are biting.

Bo is survived by his daughter, Stacy Houy and husband Michael, and their sons Andrew and Zach of Marble Falls; son, Justin Anders and wife Lissa, and their daughters Emma and Cate of Liberty Hill; and sister Cathy Laboski and husband Michael of Cypress, Texas.

Bo also is survived by nephews Jon Michael Laboski and wife Haley and their son Jackson of Katy, Texas; Matt Laboski and wife Lindsay and their sons Cayde, Cayson, and Cannon of Cypress, Texas, and Cable Anders-Tucker and wife Hannah and their son Grey of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Les and Bonita Anders of Burnet and brother, David Anders of Bertram.

Memorial Services for Bo Anders will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, Marble Falls.
