Citizens are asked to keep a look out for a missing Marble Falls woman who was last scene Monday, Sept. 20.

Anna McCoy, 80, was last seen by her son at noon Monday, Sept. 20 at her home in Marble Falls. McCoy was at a doctor’s appointment in Round Rock at 11:30 a.m. the following day and her vehicle passed through a toll booth at SH 130 near Round Rock that afternoon.

McCoy was last seen wearing a blue blouse with flower print, denim leggings and blue athletic shoes. She drives a silver, 2012 Ford Escape with Texas license plate BZK4839.

Kerr County authorities have confirmed Thursday, Oct. 2, that a man wanted in multiple area counties has been apprehended. Edward Levi Adamson, a 47 year-old Kerrville resident, has been at-large since Thursday, Sept. 26, when he drove a white Chevrolet pickup through a Llano residence. Adamson fled the scene on foot and allegedly broke into another home the next morning. While Kerr County Sheriff W.R. Hierholzer was not available for comment Thursday afternoon, staff said a press release would be issued as soon as information was available. The Llano Police Department issued a statement at 9 a.m. Thursday morning. “The Llano Police Department just received information that Edward Levi Adamson is in custody in Kerr County. We do not have any details at this time, but wanted to let the public know that he is no longer at large.”

Get ready to "Lace 'Em Up for Leukemia" Saturday, Oct. 4, to raise money for leukemia and lymphoma research. Registration for the 5K race is ongoing, or you can register the day of the event at 7 a.m. 

All funds raised will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The website set up for the event, on www.active.com (search for Marble Falls), makes clear that the event is not a timed run. "Bring your friends, bring your family, kids in strollers, dogs on leashes...walk, run, skip, hop or jump to the finish line."

Early race packets may be picked up Friday, Oct. 3 from the American Bank of Texas, 418 U.S. 281, Marble Falls. Or you can pick them up at the race.

It costs $35 for ages 13 and older; $15 for ages 5-12.

Runners and walkers take off at 9 a.m. from Westside Park, 1610 Second St., Marble Falls.

November elections will be here before you know it. Oct. 6 is the deadline to register to vote in both Burnet and Llano counties. Statewide political races are already in full-swing for Election Day on Nov. 4.

To register to vote, you must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years old by Election Day, a resident of the county in which you are voting, free of felony convictions, and not have a court judgment of “mentally incapacitation without the right to vote” by a court, according to the Texas Secretary of State.

Both Burnet and Llano counties allow people to register to vote by filling out an application and returning it to the county clerk’s office by Oct. 6, either in person or by mail. Any applications sent by mail have to be postmarked by 30 days before Election Day.

Additionally, you can register to vote through an online application on the Texas Secretary of State website at www.sos.state.tx.us.

It took a Travis County jury ten hours to return from deliberations Thursday, Sept. 25, with a guilty verdict for James Palacio, 31, who assaulted his girlfriend Nicole “Nikki” McKee, 40, over the course of three days in a Mustang Ridge trailer in January, 2013 as their young daughter, now 4 years old, watched.

“This last week was beyond difficult,” said Caryl Calsyn, Nikki’s step-grandmother, in an email to family and friends. “Emotions were all over the map.”

Nikki called both Austin and Marble Falls home and has many family and friends in the area. Caryl asked her fellow members of the United Methodist Church in Marble Falls for prayers and they came through.

It’s a homespun affair that has depended on the “gung-ho” spirit of community volunteerism for which Cottonwood Shores is known. Now, residents in the small city are poised to “rock the region” with the inaugural Cottonwood Rocks Festival on Saturday, Oct. 18.

Setting up in Community Park on Birch Lane will be some 24 vendors offering mostly arts and crafts items, a barbecue cook-off and a concert by the Wesley Westbrook Band.

A mom-and-daughter team has been organizing the free event for more than a year and, as the date comes closer, it has become a community effort for a community cause.

Mary Ann Plumley’s goal is to raise money to for the volunteer fire department and to add art programs at the library, she said.

The Marble Falls Area EMS Fish Fry will be held Wednesday, Oct. 1, 4-8 p.m. at The Blue Bonnet Café in Marble Falls.

Plates will be served for $8, and $3 for children five and under. Take out orders can be made by calling 830-693-2444.

The semi annual fish fry is one of MFAEMS’ primary fundraisers for the year. During the fundraiser, the Blue Bonnet Café shuts down normal operations and serves fried fish; giving 100 percent of the proceeds to the EMS department.

Reports that the suspect of a Llano County home invasion has burglarized a private ranch in Bandera County are just speculation, said Bandera County authorities on Tuesday.

Rumours in the communities of Bandera and Llano have spread that Edward Levi Adamson, wanted on charges of burglary from several counties including Kerr, Kimble and Burnet, may have stolen a champagne 2001 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer from a hunting ranch. However, Bandera County Lt. Danny Bowermaster said none of this has been confirmed.

“We haven’t confirmed anything at this point. The rumor is that he has connections up here, so people are getting stirred up about that,” he said. “We do have a missing vehicle off of a hunting lease, but we don’t know the time frame yet."

Bowermaster added the owner of the property does not live there full time and therefore it is not known when the vehicle was stolen.

"We haven’t put eyes on him so we can’t say that he’s in the area," Bowmaster said.

Bikers and other supporters of the American Legion piled into the Buchanan Dam Beach Club Saturday, Sept. 20, after riding 120 miles around the Hill Country, ready to enjoy each other’s company and good music. It was all for a good cause.

The event raised more than $4,200 for the American Legion’s Legacy Scholarship Fund, which helps children of veterans who have died since 9/11 realize their college dreams.

“We had forty bikers sign up” for the second annual Thunder on the Dam event, said Sean O’Brien, assistant road captain for the American Legion Riders and event organizer. “It was a good ride, everyone seemed to enjoy it, and we’re definitely doing it again next year.”

Llano County Sheriff’s Deputies busted a drug distribution operation on Thursday night after a lengthy investigation.

Two men and one woman were arrested at a residence on Lakeview Drive in Kingsland Thursday, Sept. 25.

“We arrested three subjects, got 38 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana, and we confiscated six or seven guns, $800 in cash and a vehicle,” said Llano County Sheriff Bill Blackburn.

The three were arrested on charges of possession with intent to distribute illegal drugs and felon in possession of a firearm, the sheriff said.

“They were just distributing. We don’t know for sure where they’re getting it,” Blackburn said.
