Bindseil succeeds Jett in Precinct 4

Burnet County Commissioners Court met in regular session on Tuesday, Dec 13. Among the first items of business included action on replacing Burnet County Precinct 4 Constable Chris Jett with Millicent “Missy” Bindseil.
Jett resigned his office in November to accept the position of Administrative Captain with the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office.
“My command staff position is responsible for developing a new policies manual, evaluating and helping implement new technology,” said Jett “I will also also be responsible for dispatch, court security, warrants and bonds, and civil process.”
The Court expressed their appreciation for Jett’s service.
“You’ve been an outstanding constable,” said Precinct 1 Commissioner Bill Neve.
Jett has been constable since 2008. He won reelection in 2012 and, though he will not be sworn in because of his new position, was reelected again in 2016.
“I am extremely honored to have been chosen by the commissioners and look forward to this new adventure,” said Bindseil. “Chris Jett has been an extremely effective constable for Precinct 4 and has served the citizens of Burnet County well.”
Bindsel is currently serving as the Burnet County Adult Probation Officer. Her extensive law enforcement experience includes service with the Temple Police, Travis County Sheriff’s Office and with the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office before moving to the adult probation unit. She is also a military veteran having served as a Special Agent in the US Air Force Office of Special Investigations.
In other business the Court:
• Approved the list of current Emergency Services District Commissioners for the County.
• Approved to accept the County Essential Services grant from the Office of the Governor for $223,000 for extraordinary expenses associated with the prosecution of capital murder defendant John Lawrence, who is accused of killing 15-month-old Sunny Bort. The child had allegedly been sexually assaulted and injured on May 3 when she was found unresponsive and not breathing in her home.
• Approved a Resolution commending the dedicated service of Laurie Hopkins.
• Approved the purchase of two jail transport vans.
