Youth kick off 61st Marble Falls Rodeo Wednesday, July 12
From the Dynamite Dames grand entry to the Saturday dance with Genevieve Allen and all the Marble Falls Rodeo action in between, events are scheduled for the nighttime. But Saturday morning at 10 a.m. don't miss the Marble Falls Rodeo Parade. View it from historic Main Street and bring the kids.
Youth rodeo Wednesday, July 12 will kick off the 61st annual Marble Falls Rodeo, with events continuing through Saturday night, July 15, at the Charley Taylor Rodeo Arena.
Admission is free for the first two nights, so fans can whet their rodeo appetites on pole bending and barrel racing and other sports for youngsters from four counties at the Marble Falls Youth Rodeo Friday and move on to enjoy the slack night events like steer saddling, team roping, tie-down roping and breakaway roping heats on Thursday night.
“We always try to make sure the rodeo goes exactly two hours,” said Marble Falls Rodeo Publicity Chairman Mike Dyer. “Overflow goes to the slack rodeo.”
The Marble Falls Rodeo Association is sponsor of the rodeo, but Burnet County 4-H Horse Club coordinates youth rodeo events.
The highlight of this year's rodeo weekend will be the Saturday night dance, featuring Nashville recording arist Genevieve Allen. Also, Ginger Duke and the Dynamite Dames trick riders will entertain crowds again this year on both Friday and Saturday nights. A special guest at the rodeo will be “Moonchester,” the mascot of Manchester City Premier League football club from Manchester, England.
As in years past, the Marble Falls Pro Rodeo offers professional rodeo action in almost every event a fan could wish for, including bull riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, team roping, ladies breakaway roping, barrel racing and the pint-size action of mutton bustin'.
The gates open each night at 6:30 p.m., the rodeo starts at 8 p.m. and ends around 10 p.m. On Friday, July 14, admission is $10 for adults, $5 for youth age six-12, and free for kids younger than six.
Saturday night admission is $15 for adults, $5 for youth age six-12, and free for kids younger than six. Saturday night admission includes entry to the dance that goes on past midnight some years.
Livestock for the rodeo events will be provided by Johnny Hoyle and the Cadillac Rodeo Company out of Mexia.

Charley Taylor Rodeo Arena is located south of Marble Falls on a road named Creek 424 at 3053 US 281. Concessions will be available with hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and soft drinks and rodeo fans can bring their own ice chests for other refreshments.
