LCRA taking Steps Forward April 6
The LCRA Steps Forward Day, Friday, April 6, serves as the kick off for the 2018 Keep Marble Falls Beautiful Spring Clean Up. Citizens are invited to join LCRA employees in the one-day project and to take part in the city's clean-up opportunities in the week to come.
Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) employees are rolling up their sleeves to work side by side with 30 communities to make life better for their citizens in the 4th Annual Steps Forward Day on Friday, April 6.
In Marble Falls, Steps Forward serves as the kick-off day for the city wide 2-18 Keep Marble Falls Beautiful Spring Clean Up event.
LCRA employees will help with clean up of the Marble Falls Historic Cemetery at 400 Avenue S, the back nine of the Westside Park Disc Golf Course and the nearby neighborhoods between Avenue N and Industrial Boulevard. Specifically, that means picking up litter from Avenue N, from Ranch to Market Road 1431 to Second Street, Second Street from Avenue N to Industrial, Industrial from Second Street to RM 1431, and RM 1431 from Industrial to Avenue N.
Work will be going on from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and any volunteers interested in joining in should meet up with the city and LCRA workers at the Westside Park Community Center, 1704 Second Street at Avenue Q.
In Burnet, LCRA employees will help with improvements to the softball field at Burnet Middle School, 1400 Main Street, and installing a new mulch walkway at Shady Grove Elementary School, 111 Shady Grove Road.
In Llano, they will meet at 2835 West Ranch to Market Road 152 to trim trees and remove brush along the Llano River banks.
In case of rain, the alternate day is April 13.
Steps Forward
LCRA's Community Services goal is to promote an enhanced quality of life and foster the conservation and safe enjoyment of the Colorado River basin's natural resources.
Steps Forward Day is a way for LCRA to give back to its customers and partner with them on projects that help their communities.
A typical Steps Forward project accommodates a team of volunteers who can work together to complete a task in a day. Suitable projects include painting, brush clearing, river and park cleanup, landscaping, library organization, and building and playground rehabilitation projects. Marble Falls Clean Up
The City of Marble Falls 2018 Spring Clean Up Event will be going on April 9-13, with bulk pick up going on April 7-15.
The city is accepting nominations for the annual Community Pride Award that aims at encouraging residents and businesses to enhance the appearance of their hometown. Winners receive a sign to recognize their pride.
To participate in the contest, visit the city website, www.marblefallstx.gov, and complete the nomination form. Submitting pictures is strongly encouraged.
Curbside pickup is offered for items left out by 7 a.m. on regular trash days. Allowed are: up to four cubic yards (four carts) of trash, old furniture, appliances without Freon, yard waste and other bulky items. Not allowed are tires, hazardous materials and liquids, electronics and batteries and construction materials.
Bulk item drop off will be allowed at dumpsters available at 2000 Colt Circle, next to the Marble Falls Independent School District administrative offices, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday-Monday, April 7-15.
As with pickup, most trash and bulky items are allowed except materials from construction sites, electronics and batteries, tires and hazardous waste or liquids.
