Burnet County communities sees increase in sales tax receipts

While Burnet County's three biggest cities all saw decreases in their sales tax distributions for the month of May, the entire county remains well above average for calendar year 2019 as the collections are up more than 11.1 percent combined.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he is sending cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $867.7 million in local sales tax allocations for May, 0.7 percent more than in May 2018. These allocations are based on sales made in March by businesses that report tax monthly, and sales made in January, February and March by quarterly filers.

Sales tax revenues for Marble Falls were at $853,003.99, down nearly $2,895, or 0.33 percent, from the $855,898.70 received during May 2018. In Marble Falls, sales tax receipts make up the lion's share of general fund revenues.

For the year, sales tax revenues for Marble Falls are $3,888,105.86 — up 9.61 percent from the $3,547,047.13 received during the first five months of 2018. . . .
