Marble Falls Independent School District Board of Trustees approved construction firm and associated contracts on the first read at the monthly school board meeting on Monday, June 17 in order to begin the projects as soon as possible.
MFISD Superintendent Chris Allen said he doesn't want first read approvals to become habit but hoped the board was willing to make an exception in this instance.
“We are not going to be in the habit of doing a bunch of one-reads,” he said. “We are trying to get this stuff launched for summer.”
According to the approved timeline, the drive and paving improvements of the 2018 bond package are expected to be completed or near completion by the beginning of the school year.
Administration worked with select members of the school board to evaluate and select a sealed bid for the work. Administration recommended naming STR Constructors Ltd from Liberty Hill as the highest ranked offer for the paving work at Highland Lakes Elementary School and Marble Falls Middle School.
