The certified market value of real estate property in Burnet County went over the $10 billion mark for the first-time ever in 2019, according to records from the Burnet Central Appraisal District.

BCAD chief appraiser Stan Hemphill released certified values for all of the taxing entities in Burnet County last week in accordance with state law.

The certified market value of Burnet County property for 2019 is just under $10.871 billion, up more than $880 million from the $9.984 billion certified for 2018. Once homestead exemptions are taken into consideration, the taxable value for property in 2019 is $7.101 billion, up more than $660 million from the $6.437 billion certified for 2018.

Of the $7.101 billion in taxable value for 2019, some $1.596 billion is frozen due to the over 65 exemption, leaving an adjusted taxable value of $5.465 billion, up more than $450 million from the 2018 adjusted taxable value of $5.015 billion. . . .
