Horseshoe Bay allows temporary buildings at troubled youth facility

The next transformative chapter in the life of the Phoenix Center will soon take place as the nonprofit begins its permanent move to Horseshoe Bay.

The Horseshoe Bay City Council voted unanimously Tuesday, Sept. 17, to grant a conditional use permit to the Phoenix Center to set up two temporary 60-foot by 12-foot office buildings on their new site at 3340 Texas 71, west of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center of Marble Falls.

Phoenix Center founder and executive director Sarah Garrett said the temporary buildings will house the center's administrative offices for 24 months — as well as provide an on-site place to conduct therapy and counseling sessions for trauma-informed children and their families — until the permanent facilities are constructed. . . .
