Elections officials have reported a “meager” first week of early voting in Burnet County for the primary elections featuring the presidential race and contested congressional races as well as county and judicial positions.

“It's been somewhat disappointing,” Burnet County Elections Administrator Doug Ferguson said. “When you considered the last presidential (primary) election in 2016, we're voting about 100 people fewer per day than then.” …

Burnet County elected officials discussed and debated the need for enhanced courthouse security at the South Annex in Marble Falls during Tuesday's regular commissioners court meeting.

Two individuals have filed for election so far to the Marble Falls City Council, according to City Secretary Christina McDonald.

The filing period for the Saturday, May 4, city and school board elections began Wednesday, Jan. 16, and continues through Feb. 15.
