Burnet County Precinct 3 Commissioner Billy Wall rode a large early voting margin to victory Tuesday night, March 3, in complete but unofficial election returns.

Meanwhile, Llano County Sheriff Bill Blackburn also used early voting to cruise to a re-election win over challenger Jim Caruso, while Dwain Rogers will be elected the next Llano County Attorney, succeeding Rebecca Lange, who did not seek re-election.

Republicans are busy planning two upcoming events. Organizers along with the Burnet Chamber of Commerce and Burnet Bulletin will be hosting the 2020 Candidate Forum on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Agrilife Extension at 607 N. Vandeveer in Burnet. They are also completing details for their Chili Cook-Off, Pie Bake-Off and Scholarship Auction to be held at the Burnet Fairgrounds on Saturday, Feb. 15 from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Pictured, during a recent planning session, are: Karyn Mason, Londa Chandler, Gail Teegarden, Kara Chasteen, Kay Stripling and Darlene Hargett.

Burnet County Sheriff Calvin Boyd to speak about border security

The Burnet County Republican Women meeting and guest presentation, including Burnet County Sheriff Calvin Boyd speaking about the illegal immigration crisis on the border, is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12 at the Sylvester H. Reed Building, 402 East Jackson in Burnet. Lunch is $15.

Burnet County Sheriff Calvin Boyd will be speaking Thursday, Sept. 12, about the crisis on the border, drug cartels and the financial burdens of unchecked illegal immigration as well as the collateral damage and potential dangers of an unsecured border.

Members of the Burnet County Republican Club, Burnet County Republican Women and Burnet County Republican Party met at Bill’s Burgers discuss arrangements for their upcoming fundraiser featuring Lt. Col. Allen West, Senator Dawn Buckingham and State Representative Terry Wilson.

The Burnet County Republican Picnic will be held at Bill’s Burgers in Burnet on Sunday, September 8 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by The Skylarks.
