Playwright critiques, acts with cast of 'Don't Hug Me'

The laughter and chuckling coming from a seat in the middle of the auditorium was easy to notice on Labor Day evening. Coming from any other audience member would be encouraging enough for the cast of Hill Country Community Theatre's latest offering, the musical comedy “Don't Hug Me.”

That the laughter belonged the man who wrote the book and lyrics to the musical, playwright Phil Olson, seemed to make rehearsal even more electric for the cast and crew.

Cottonwood to honor Naumann Thursday

Citizens may want to make a special effort to attend the meeting of the Cottonwood Shores City Council meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4.

The council will be honoring the 2016 Cottonwood Shores Outstanding Citizen, Carlos Naumann.

Naumann was chosen from among four nominees at the July 21 council meeting.

Ceiling collapses at Julie's Cocina

A patron looks at the damage done when the ceiling collapsed at Julie's Cocina in Cottonwood Shores just after 8 p.m. tonight. It is believed that a series of storms may have caused the roof to leak and weaken. The restaurant was shut down for the night for safety precautions.

Granite Shoals Police Chief Gary Boshears was elected to Place 1 of the Marble Falls Independent School District Board of Trustees, while Tony Satsky and Cheryl Mott Trinidad won seats on the Cottonwood Shores City Council in today's school board and municipal elections.

LCRA, PEC award grant to Cottonwood Shores for patrol vehicle

The City of Cottonwood Shores will soon have a new police patrol vehicle thanks to a $19,100 community development grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority and Pedernales Electric Cooperative.

The new patrol vehicle will help the city schedule officers and improve response time to emergency calls.

Early voting starts Monday for city, school elections

Early voting for the May 7 city and school elections begins Monday, April 25 in Burnet and Llano counties. Several different local leadership positions are up for grabs on the ballot.

Voters will decide which of three candidates will get the Place 1 spot on the Marble Falls Independent School District (MFISD) Board of Trustees.

'Dial M for Murder' continues run

The Hill Country Community Theater production of the classic thriller “Dial M for Murder” through March 6.
Frederick Knott’s story of dark betrayal is performed by a cast of seven under the direction of Mike Rademaekers and assistant Holden Fox. Actors include Glen Bird as Tony Wendice, Alexandria Randolph as Margot Wendice, Patrick Lescarbeau as her enamoured defender Max Halliday, Guy Gober as the assassin Captain Lesgate, Randy Hilmer as Chief Inspector Hubbard and Corey Bogue as Officer Thompson.
Performances areThursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 2:15 p.m.

Two city council races develop

City council election filing closed Friday, Feb. 19, and today, Feb. 23, is the last day to declare a write-in candidacy. So far, only Granite Shoals and Cottonwood Shores in south Burnet County report contested seats on their councils.

HCCT holds open auditions for 'A Little Off the Top'

Hill Country Community Theatre has announced open auditions dates of Feb. 29 and March 1 for their April production of the comedy “A Little Off the Top” by Carl L. Williams.

The comedy involves two balding men, their love interests and a toupee salesman in a cast of seven chosen from 7 p.m. auditions at the theatre, 4003 West Ranch to Market Road 2147, Cottonwood Shores.
