Girls Night Out pampers ladies for a worthy cause

The 5th Annual Girls Night Out, benefitting the services for women of Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center and Open Door Recover House, will be a Mad Hatter pajama party this year.

Set for March 5 from 6:30-11 p.m. at Lakeside Pavilion in Marble Falls, the event welcomes guests (over age 21) to come in PJs or loungewear to indulge themselves in facials, massages, manicures and other joys of the female set. Individual tickets for eight of those indulgences are $50 each, or $40 each for groups of five or more. DEA Operation Dream Catcher nets meth ring member in Granite Shoals

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Operatioin Dream Catcher scooped up one of 15 suspects under federal indictment for methamphetamine distribution in Granite Shoals Wednesday.

Aaron Bravo, 39, was arrested in an operation that began about 6 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26. Granite Shoals Chief of Police J.P. Wilson issued an alert for citizens to avoid the 400 block of East Castlelake Drive, where the arrest was made, and the department emphasized in a press release Thursday that residents were in no danger at any time and that the entire department with other local and federal officers were in control of the scene.

The Hill Country Community Theater production of the classic thriller “Dial M for Murder” through March 6.
Frederick Knott’s story of dark betrayal is performed by a cast of seven under the direction of Mike Rademaekers and assistant Holden Fox. Actors include Glen Bird as Tony Wendice, Alexandria Randolph as Margot Wendice, Patrick Lescarbeau as her enamoured defender Max Halliday, Guy Gober as the assassin Captain Lesgate, Randy Hilmer as Chief Inspector Hubbard and Corey Bogue as Officer Thompson.
Performances areThursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 2:15 p.m.

Great Texas Warrant Roundup coming

The Great Texas Warrant Roundup begins Saturday, March 5, and the cities of Marble Falls and Granite Shoals both will participate.

The roundup targets defendants with outstanding traffic, parking, city ordinance, penal code, and higher charge warrants from participating jurisdictions. But, the focus is to bring them into compliance with court orders and multiple options are available to resolve obligations voluntarily before warrants are served. Because some 300 counties, justices of the peace, constables and municipalities of all sizes are participating, you could find yourself served with an outstanding warrant from any of them.

Two city council races develop

City council election filing closed Friday, Feb. 19, and today, Feb. 23, is the last day to declare a write-in candidacy. So far, only Granite Shoals and Cottonwood Shores in south Burnet County report contested seats on their councils.

HCCT holds open auditions for 'A Little Off the Top'

Hill Country Community Theatre has announced open auditions dates of Feb. 29 and March 1 for their April production of the comedy “A Little Off the Top” by Carl L. Williams.

The comedy involves two balding men, their love interests and a toupee salesman in a cast of seven chosen from 7 p.m. auditions at the theatre, 4003 West Ranch to Market Road 2147, Cottonwood Shores. 'A Bench in the Sun,' a Ron Clark romantic comedy is a budget-wise Valentine performance by Hill Country Community Theater veterans.

A special Valentine's Day-only matinee performance of “A Bench in the Sun” is set for Sunday, Feb. 14, at 2:15 p.m. at Hill Country Community Theatre, 4003 West Farm to Market Road 2147, Cottonwood Shores.
