Gregg Ranch, which will be located near the intersection of US 281 and Texas 71, will be the largest master planned development in Marble Falls with 700 homes on more than 240 acres when completed.

H-E-B to build new, larger Marble Falls store

A new Marble Falls H-E-B store will have more space and more offerings and will be located just west of the existing store.

It's official — a new, larger H-E-B store is coming to Marble Falls and will offer even more value for shoppers in the area.

The current Marble Falls store location at 1503 Ranch to Market Road 1431 West will also be the site of a new H-E-B store on the same property. The existing store will continue operations while the new store is being built, said H-E-B Marble Falls Unit Director David Crail.

“This is a tremendous opportunity to give our customers what they need – a larger variety of products and more shopping space,” Crail said.

Severe weather alert issued

Forecasts still hold out hopes for improvements for Saturday night, May 28, and the Memorial Day weekend. See more from the National Weather Service on Facebook: The-Highlander.

Gusty southerly winds are adding moisture and, while afternoon and evening thunderstorms are possible today, Wednesday, May 24, the threat is predicted to escalate and the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued severe weather alerts.

“The broad trough of low pressure over the western US is forecast to slowly shift to east Thursday through Friday, said Bob Rose, chief meteorologist for the Lower Colorado River Authority. “As the trough approaches northwestern Texas, it's expected to cause the widespread development of rain showers and thunderstorms across the Hill Country and Central Texas.”

Texas Tech Chancellor Robert Duncan's recent visit to Marble Falls has revealed just how important the Highland Lakes campus is to the university system. Friday, May 6 was the first time the chancellor had visited the campus at the Frank Fickett Educational Center and he noted that the regional site is definitely “an asset in the Texas Tech System.”

Marble Falls man indicted on stalking, aggravated assault

A Marble Falls resident and convicted felon will face trial once again following an indictment on charges of stalking, aggravated assault and harassment.

Richard Lee Rose II, 39, was arrested on two felony charges and one misdemeanor after an indictment was filed against him on May 3.

The a grand jury in the 33rd Judicial District Court indicted Rose on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second degree felony, and stalking, a third-degree felony, after he allegedly spiked a woman's coffee with methamphetamine, stole and damaged her property, and threatened her. Rose was also indicted on the misdemeanor count of harassment in county court on the same day.

Stamp out Hunger at your mailbox Saturday, May 14

The Marble Falls Post Office is asking the support of Marble Falls and Granite Shoals on May 14, as it joins America’s letter carriers to conduct the nation’s largest single-day food drive—Stamp Out Hunger.

The annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is hosted each year by the National Association of Letter Carriers in partnership with the U.S. Postal Service to support local food banks and the 48 million Americans who struggle with hunger.

Family mourns gruesome slaying of former beauty queen

Friends and family are mourning the death of a former Miss Aqua Boom who was gruesomely killed in New Mexico earlier this year – apparently on her birthday.

Two men were arrested last week for their part in the slaying of 36-year-old Naomi Ruth Chaney. New Mexico State Police are still searching for the body of Chaney, a former Horseshoe Bay resident and graduate of Marble Falls High School.
