Three area churches banded together to ensure celebration of an important Christian holiday was not lost to restrictions of gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak.

First Baptist Church Marble Falls, Lake Shores Church and Rockpile Church hosted a drive-in Easter worship and service in the parking lot of Marble Falls High School on Sunday, April 12 starting at 10 a.m.

Events ease back-to-school financial woes

School supplies, shoes, hair cuts and health screening are free Saturday~

 

Getting ready to go back to school is a flurry of activities for all families, but for some a financial is a dark cloud over the preparations.

A break in that cloud—the Back-to-School Blast (B2BS) sponsored by Highland Lakes Health Partnership—takes place 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Marble Falls Middle School, 1511 Pony Drive.

The event began an continues as an effort by area churches to be sure children have the backpacks and school supplies they need, but a selection of free shoes and socks has been added. This year a health fair with free vision and hearing tests is new. And, back-to-school hair cuts are free.

Vendor booths offfer some give-aways and lots of information about community services.

Back to School Blast takes off Aug. 6

Children in need from all over the lakes area will be welcomed Saturday morning, Aug. 6, to the Back to School Blast (B2SB), sponsored by Highland Lakes Health Partnership (HLHP).

The event will be held 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Marble Falls Middle School, 1511 Pony Drive, behind the H-E-B store and a health fair has been added to this 6th annual event.

Inside the school gymnasium will be more than 1,500 back packs full of school supplies, along with shoes and socks and services for students in PreK – 12th grade, all sponsored by area churches and the Highland Lakes Health Partnership.

“This is not limited to children in the Marble Falls Independent School District,” said Cathy Lemlyn, community outreach coordinator for Bluebonnet Trails Community Services, an HLHP member. “Twenty percent of about 2,000 people who came last year were from outside town.”
