Marble Falls school board hears proposal to expand pharmacy program

Marble Falls Independent School District may inject $25,000 into the pharmacy program as part of the district's focus on career and technology education (CTE).

The Board of Trustees considered a proposal on June 24 to spend the money on the Kaduceus Pharmacy Tech program at Marble Falls High School.

Currently, the curriculum is online-only, but $25,000 spent on lab equipment and student guides could provide an in-person learning experience; the money would also cover teacher training and site licenses for the program, according to Leslie Baty, MFISD director of elementary education.

The funds are already accounted for in the district's CTE budget, but the amount hits the $25,000 threshold that requires board approval to spend. The program also comes with an annual recurring cost between $4,800 and $5,700. . . .
