Horseshoe Bay and Cottonwood Shores extend wastewater agreement

Cottonwood Shores will continue to rely on Horseshoe Bay for wastewater treatment services for the foreseeable future under an agreement reached Tuesday, Oct. 15.

The Horseshoe Bay City Council unanimously approved amending their contract with their eastern neighbors, although not without some concern about increased population density in Cottonwood Shores and the burden it could place on Horseshoe Bay's infrastructure.

Cottonwood Shores first contracted with Lake LBJ Municipal Utility District, the predecessor to Horseshoe Bay, in April 1992 for treatment and disposal of up to 60,000 gallons per day. The contract was renegotiated in October 2000 and increased that amount up to 96,000 gallons per day, or 12 percent of the plant's 800,000 gallon per day capacity. . . .
