Cottonwood Shores residents are being told to boil their water for a couple of days starting late Wednesday, Feb. 12, while city water lines recover from an emergency repair.

UPDATE: As of 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, the boil water notice has been lifted, according to a statement by the city of Cottonwood Shores.

UPDATE: As of 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20, crews completed repair of the water main, city officials said. Residents should boil water for the next 24 to 48 hours as the city has water samples sent for testing.

By 6:30 p.m. Thursday, the lights were out in the Cottonwood Shores Civic Center and city council members had gone home.

It took only 20 minutes for the second of two public hearings on the annexation of some 2,000 feet of Ranch Road 2147 and the adoption of an ordinance naming Republic Services the city’s solid waste contractor.

Not only did no one speak on either topic; no one attended the special called council meeting except city officials and a reporter . . . .

Cottonwood Shores will continue to rely on Horseshoe Bay for wastewater treatment services for the foreseeable future under an agreement reached Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Cottonwood Shores city council members agreed Thursday to let the city’s parks department expand open days for the splash pad by two additional days. The catch is that any additional water use has to be paid for out of the parks and recreation budget.

The deadline for filings for city and school board elections in Texas is today, Friday, Feb. 17, and, as of Thursday, several contests had developed for the May 6 elections in Burnet County.

The mayors seats in Burnet and Granite Shoals are contested and the Meadowlakes and Highland Haven city councils will be on the ballot.

In cases where none develops, as may be the case in Bertram and Marble Falls, elections will not have to be held.

Marble Falls

In Marble Falls, Mayor John Packer filed for re-election but the other three incumbents, so far, are undeclared. They are Mayor Pro Tem Jane Mare Hurst, Place 2; Rachel Austin-Cook, Place 4 and Rayan Nash, Place 6.

Parks and Recreation Committee Chairman David Rhodes had filed for Place 2 and attorney Megan Klaeger had filed for Place 6.
