Burnet County braces for more storms

Storms on Tuesday afternoon are the first of a series of storms this week, meteorologists said.
The National Weather service has issued multiple hazard statements for the Burnet County area, which a forecast of storms all through the week. The City of Marble Falls issued an alert at 5:24 p.m. today, May 31, that Lake Marble Falls is closed until further notice due to flood gate operations and the City of Horseshoe Bay issued multiple low water crossing closings throughout the afternoon.
A flood advisory was issued at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31 for southwestern Burnet County, southeastern Llano County and surrounding counties, effective until 5:15 p.m.
At 2:22 p.m., Burnet County dispatch reported several lightening strikes which touched down in the county. At 2:43 p.m., dispatchers reported water flowing across TX 71 near the Ranch Roach 2147 intersection in Llano County.
A hazardous weather outlook issued 2:59 p.m. stated that “multiple rounds of heavy rainfall beginning this afternoon (Tuesday) will be capable of producing rainfall rates of over two inches per hour in some cases, which will result in rapid development of flash flooding.”
The statement added “there will also be a risk for some large hail and damaging winds with these storms,” but stated “the main threat will be flash flooding and the threat is significant.”
NWS meteorologists reported 100 percent chance of rain Tuesday afternoon, 80 percent chance on Tuesday night, Wednesday, and Wednesday night. Thursday will see a 70 percent chance of rain, and a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms on Thursday night and Friday.
