Miss Aqua Boom Crowned, 4th of July fireworks ahead on the Highland Lakes

For those going out on the town on Independence Day weekend, there are a number of local celebrations to visit for July 4th activities.

The crowing of Miss Aqua Boom Kelsie Tackett Saturday was only the beginning of celebrations, some that take place day-of, and some that stretch across several days of fun, family festivities and celebrations.

ALL WEEKEND

Going on all Independence Day weekend is the annual Kingsland Aqua Boom from Friday, July 1 to Monday, July 4. The festivities kickoff with the Friday Night Steak Cook-off at 7 p.m. On Saturday morning, the Flights of Fancy remote control plane air show and golf tournament both begin at 9 a.m. At 11 a.m., the BBQ Championship Cook-Off begins. The first annual Aqua Boom Music Festival will take place from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., including performances by Clayton Jones, Brooks Crossing, William Michael Morgan, and others.

Sunday's festivities include a boat and land parade, children's parade, rubber duckie race and Lake Area Rods and Classics car show. The festivities wouldn't be complete without an arts and crafts show, children's games and food vendors available throughout the weekend. SUNDAY, JULY 3

Taking place on Sunday, July 3 at 8:30 p.m. is the annual Krause Springs Independence Day Firework Show. Fireworks will be launched at dusk from the field behind the volleyball courts for the delight of visitors. Krause Springs officials ask that guests be respectful and not bring any glass containers or pets. For more information, visit krausesprings.net.

MONDAY, JULY 4

On the evening of Independence Day, the City of Marble Falls will put on splendor at Lakeside Park for the annual Marble Falls Community Firework Show. Food and vendors will be on site at 3 p.m., the Lakes Area Rods and Classics Show and Shine will begin at 4 p.m., and live music will start at 5 p.m.

Live music includes an opening performance by the London David Band and this year’s headliner, the high-energy band Red Carpet Chaos. Red Carpet Chaos will play hits from every genre from the 1950s through contemporary times.
The firework show will begin at 9:15 p.m. or a little after sundown and last over 20 minutes with patriotic music provided by a local radio station for all to enjoy. For the full schedule, visit www.marblefallscommunityfireworks.com.

Horseshoe Bay Resort and property owners also host an Independence Day shindig beginning at 9 a.m. with the 4th of July Land Parade down Horseshoe Bay Boulevard. The boat parade will follow, passing the Horseshoe Bay Resort Yacht Club at about 10:30 a.m. As far as evening festivities, the Chris Brade Band will perform at 8 p.m. on the waterfront. This year's firework display will commence at about 9:30 p.m. choreographed to 102.9 FM, and resort officials claim the best views are from the Yacht Club waterfront complex. Meadowlakes property owners will be hosting their annual 4th of July Parade, including cars bikes and strollers, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Hidden Falls Golf Course parking lot, and coursing through city streets to end at the Lakeside Pavilion. Parade onlookers can join the community in the park for cake and ice cream and live music by the Mike McKeown Band.

The Ladies Club of Highland Haven sponsors a parade and ice cream social on Monday, July 4 starting at 8:30 p.m. from the Highland Haven Community Center, led by Granite Shoals Fire Department. The parade of bikes, trikes, strollers, wagons, golf carts and classic or antique cars will make its way to Dove Park and back, with ice cream to be served following.
