Marble Falls police utilized surveillance video and witness accounts to piece together an incident where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the Walmart parking lot.

The incident occurred at 9:28 a.m. Dec. 24 at the store, located in the 2700 block of U.S. 281 in Marble Falls.

Victoria Leigh Bailey, 34, was the pedestrian struck by a 2015 Chevrolet pickup driven by 82-year-old Mark Eldon Fox of Marble Falls, according to the Marble Falls Police Department report. …

Marble Falls police seeking armed robbery suspect

Authorities are looking for a suspect who robbed the LBJ Food Mart in the 400 block of U.S. 281 in Marble Falls this morning, Jan. 3, around 7:45 a.m. The suspect, believed to be either an Hispanic or Asian male, was wearing a mask, brandished a firearm, took cash and punched the clerk in the face, according to police. The suspect then fled the store on foot north on U.S. 281 and headed west on Sixth Street. To offer a tip, call 830-693-3611.

Marble Falls police seek suspect in store bomb hoax

Marble Falls police closed the Walmart parking lot after receiving a report of a “non-specific” bomb threat the morning of Dec. 26 in a recorded phone message. The scare ended about two-and-a-half hours later with no device found following a sweep of the building.

Marble Falls police are looking for a possible suspect who left a message on a store phone which resulted in the evacuation of Walmart the day after Christmas.

Officials confirmed that the message may have been left the evening before but was discovered the morning of Dec. 26 by a staff member.

“The threat was extremely vague and not specific to any part of the store or person,” Marble Falls Police Sgt. Barry Greer said. “The building was evacuated out of an abundance of caution. …

Law enforcement mourns Burnet PD K-9 handler's death

Burnet Police Officer Jose Meza, who served as the K9 handler for the agency, died Dec. 20 of a heart attack, according to the preliminary autopsy report. He was just 30 years old with a wife and toddler child. Hundreds of members of law enforcement from local agencies as well as across the state attended Meza's services at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Marble Falls. Agencies conducted a funeral escort to Post Mountain Cemetery with full law enforcement honors near Burnet.

Hundreds of peace officers and emergency personnel from around the state descended on Marble Falls two days before Christmas to honor a Burnet PD K9 handler who died after suffering an apparent heart attack, just a week short of his year anniversary with the agency.

A funeral mass for Burnet PD K9 Officer Jose Humberto Meza was conducted at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Dec. 23, followed by a procession to Post Mountain Cemetery where graveside services were conducted with full law enforcement honors. …

A Lampasas woman, who works at a Marble Falls women's shelter, has succumbed to her injuries Dec. 13 and died following a vehicle crash in Lampasas County.

Caety Edwards, a vehicle occupant, suffered “significant injuries” including a punctured lung, broken bones and internal damage, a family source stated. Prior to the incident, she had worked for the Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center. …

Marble Falls approves $4.405M bond debt refinance

Marble Falls City Council approved refinancing of $4.405 million in debt at a lower interest rate as well as contracting with state-mandated bond counsel for legal purposes in handling bond investments.

The council voted unanimously to authorize the refunding and re-investment of a 2010 series of certificates of obligation (C.O.) following a presentation by financial advisors for the municipality, during the Dec. 3 regular council meeting. …
