For the past several months, property owners around Lake LBJ and Inks Lake as well as Burnet County officials had been asking the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) for assistance so they could complete repairs to docks, retaining walls and other structures damaged by the October 2018 flood.

A brush with death would make most people reconsider their path in life, but a midair jet fighter collision during a training exercise could not dissuade Burnet County veteran Ray Bronk from continuing to pilot aircraft for his country.

Ray joined the United States Air Force in 1952 and aced his aptitude tests. The career advisor listed aircraft pilot as one of his potential jobs.

Q: Does this actually ban a State Income Tax? Isn’t it already banned?

UPDATE: As of 9:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, the city of Marble Falls has lifted its ban on outdoor burning.

Burnet County officials deemed successful a re-use and recycling collection event at a new location due to a wealth of volunteer help and a record intake of old tires and latex paint.

The BOPATE event was held Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Burnet County Recycle/Re-use Facility, 2411 FM 963, just outside Burnet. BOPATE stands for batteries, oil, paint, antifreeze, tires and electronics.

The question of a burn ban wasn’t included on Tuesday’s Llano County Commissioners Court meeting agenda, but that makes little difference in the ban itself. The ban remains in effect until either the court changes it, or County Judge Ron Cunningham declares the need for a burn ban over.

That seems unlikely to happen soon . . . .

Sales tax revenue for the city of Marble Falls continued to climb in October as all six taxing municipalities in Burnet County reported growth compared to last year, with four cities (Marble Falls, Burnet, Granite Shoals and Bertram) reporting double digit percentage gains.

Knife River, Lhoist, Oldcastle expanding operations on US 281

Back-to-back crashes within a mile of each other on US. 281 between Burnet and Marble Falls around noon Sept. 19 delayed traffic for at least two hours as crew cleared the scene. At least four people were transported to the emergency room. The Texas Department of Safety is investigation the collisions.
