For the students of Kyle Holton's ag power class at Marble Falls High School, accepting jobs from local entities is about more than just refining their welding skills.

“It feels good to help people,” said junior Ayden Humphreys.

Marble Falls Independent School District added three new classes to its expanding catalog of Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses aimed at preparing students for the workforce or continuing education.

In December and January, the board of trustees approved the addition of a general employability skills class and an advanced floral design class. The courses will be offered to students starting in the 2020-21 school year. …

Marble Falls ISD to show signs of construction soon

Residents and parents of Marble Falls Independent School District will soon see tangible evidence of building construction following school board approval of the financing documents for phase two of the $55 million bond projects.

At the Nov. 18 regular school board meeting, the trustees unanimously accepted a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) of $21,268,965 for the bulk of building renovations at several districts across MFISD.

As Marble Falls Independent School District Superintendent Chris Allen explains, giving students an opportunity for an up-close look at their chosen field – if only for a day – can prove to be an invaluable and potentially life-changing experience.

“These experiences confirm occupational goals for students and inspire continued efforts toward the educational attainment needed for success in those fields,” Allen said. “If the student has an experience which discourages him or her, this allows the student to consider other pursuits earlier in the course of their educational path.” . . .

Marble Falls Independent School District Pre-K students joined together to celebrate Mexican culture on Oct. 10 with a performance of “De Colores” while dressed in traditional garbs. Also, first graders performed a Guatemalan dance to “Yo Le Canto A Guatemala” at the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration which was held at Marble Falls Middle School.
