New Kingsland FM 2900 Bridge name recommendation would honor Enloes

Family members and supporters celebrated recently at the nursing home bedside of Pat Enloe, the widow of David Enloe – both of which were pivotal organizers in years past of water-related festivities and a nationally-renowned ski team. Llano County Commissioner recently approved a resolution recommending naming the Farm-to-market 2900 Bridge, which is currently under construction, in honor of the Enloes. MFISD plan would provide free breakfast, lunch price hike to offset cost

Authorities ID man shot by Burnet police officer

Authorities have impounded the Mercedes involved in the shooting March 27, where a 25-year-old Bertram man behind the wheel was killed by a Burnet police officer.

 

 

 

UPDATE: Burnet Police Department has identified the officer involved in the shooting as Patrol Sergeant Russell Butler. Butler was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. He has been with the police department for three years and was just recently promoted to patrol sergeant, according to a Burnet PD statement released on March 29.

State of Texas sues city of Double Horn for incorporating to block mining

The city of Double Horn will face attorneys with the State of Texas who alleged that the newly-created municipality formed with the sole purpose of attempted regulation of a proposed 280-acre mining operation on Texas 71 adjacent to community. The state of Texas has launched a lawsuit against the newly-incorporated city of Double Horn, claiming the community failed to follow state law in the process of becoming a municipality in its pursuit to regulate an adjacent mining operation.

A hearing in the Burnet County district court is scheduled April 3 before 424th Judicial District Judge Evan Stubbs.
