Joan N. Burgess, 82, of Marble Falls, died Monday, May 16, 2016. 
She was born Aug. 16, 1933 in North Adams, Massachusetts.
She met and married John C. Burgess and they celebrated 63 years of marriage.
 They had three children, Judith A Bryan, Patricia L. King and James C. Burgess.
Joan is survived by her husband and children; her sister Barbara Nomille and grandchildren Robert King and Tyler Burgess.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Clements Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel.

John “Red” Cleveland of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas died Monday, May 16, 2016 at the age of 92. 
 Red was born on July 26, 1923 in Tivoli, Texas, to Alvin and Ruby Cleveland.  
He attended Hardin-Simmons University where he played football and was the student body president.  
During WWII, Red joined the Air Force Reserve where he served as a flight instructor.  
In 1944, he married his childhood sweetheart, Margaret Baker, and, in 1945, had their only child, Marilyn.  
After the war, Red returned to Hardin-Simmons University to complete degrees in Math and Physical Education.

Dorothy “Dot” Slinkard Rodgers, 93 of Marble Falls passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016.  She was born Nov. 13, 1922 in Chaffee, Missouri to Otho and Alma Westrich Slinkard. 
 She married her high school sweetheart, Ralph E. “Bud” Rodgers on Feb. 17, 1944. 
They settled in Cape Girardeau, Missouri where her two sons were born.
The young family relocated to Dallas in 1954.  
She enjoyed boating, water sports, golf, and needlepoint.  
One of her needlepoint quilts was awarded 1st Premium prize at the 1971 State Fair of Texas.  After the boys left home she and Bud began traveling in the first of their three motor homes.  They traveled throughout the United States, mostly as members of the Rolling Nobles, a Masonic Schriners organization.

She was born on Aug. 28, 1916.
Helen graduated in “The Little Red Granite School House".  
She became a registered nurse and applied her profession until she was 80 years old.  
She is survived by: her son; Steven Cooke; her sister Mary Kathryn Dobson; one brother, Dave Fry; her foster son, Cristian Castro.  
Her family gathered for a graveside ceremony, Wednesday, May 11, 2016.

Jessie Garrison, age 89, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2016 at Vibra Rehabilitation Hospital in Lakeway.   
She had been a resident of Meadowlakes and Marble Falls since 2004.
Jessie was born on Jan. 26, 1927 in Clyde to Joe Bailey and Effie Weathers McIntosh, the third of four children born into this family.  
 Callahan County was the home of both sides of the family and she grew up with many aunts, uncles, and cousins which meant so much to her all of her life.  
Many of her fondest memories were the big gatherings with the McIntosh and Weathers families and the characters in each group.
She was preceded in death by her husband B.C. Garrison; parents  Joe and Effie McIntosh,  and brothers L.W. and Jack Hooker McIntosh.

Viola Spacek Miller, 99 years, 10 months and 13 days (almost made 100!), died Monday, June 13, 2016 in Kingsland. 
She was born July 18, 1916 in Burleson County, to Ura Dean Spacek and Leo Joseph Spacek.
Before moving to Granite Shoals in the early 70’s, she lived in Caldwell, Texas and Los Angeles, California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Miller, a small business owner and award winning driver for Commercial Carriers out of Michigan; her parents; sisters Hilda and Merle, brother Joe and first husband Justin Hilleard.
She is survived by her nephew Paul Johnson and wife Linda and children.
Graveside service will be held Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Caldwell Masonic Cemetery at 1p.m.

John Irving Landon

John Irving Landon passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016 in Llano, Texas at the age of 89.

He was born Jan. 12, 1927 in Menard, Texas to Frankie Eugenia (Poole) and John Newmarch Landon.

After graduation from Menard High School at age 16, John enrolled into the University of Texas at Austin where he was a proud member of the Showband of the Southwest playing the trumpet, a passion he continued throughout his life.

After receiving his undergrad degree, John enrolled in the Navy, during WWII, where he served in the Philippines as an electrician until the end of the war.

After the war, he married his wife of 62 years, Willene Templeton and they returned to UT where John enrolled under the GI Bill into the School of Pharmacy where he earned his degree two years later.

Robert L. Mezger of Marble Falls, Texas passed away Friday, May 27, 2016.
Robert was born April 27, 1921 to E.C. and Pearl Lacy Mezger in Marble Falls.
Robert married Betty Marie Jagow in 1943 and began his military career in WWII as a mechanic and navigator, serving on the Northern African and Southern European front.
After leaving the military, Robert raised Herford cattle for 60 years.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his parents; granddaughter Laura and brothers John and Jim.
Robert is survived by his daughters Linda Marie Mezger and Cynthia Ann Dixon of Marble Falls; sons Robert A. Mezger of Colorado, Bryan Kent Mezger and wife Linda of Boulder, Colorado, Doug Mezger and wife Martha of Marble Falls, and Jeffrey Alan Mezger of Marble Falls.

Lillie “Boots” Lenora Travis Worcester, 96, of Kingsland died Tuesday, May 24, 2016 in Wise County at her daughter’s home.
Lillie was born Nov. 28, 1919 in Royce City, Texas to Mote and Carrie Travis.
She served in PTA, Cub Scouts, Camp Fire and the Methodist Church.
She loved fly fishing, arts and crafts, working in her yard, Garden Club, volunteering at the Library and  Al-Anon.
After her husband's retirement from Braniff Airways, they moved near the Packsaddle Mountain on the Llano River.
She was an active member of the Community Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday
School, lead exercise classes.
She was a fiercely independent woman who lived alone with her dog, Jack until a week before her death from pneumonia.
