William “Bill” Chapline

1929 ~ 2016

William “Bill” Chapline went to be with Jesus on Thursday, the 7th of July, 2016.

Bill was born on the 20th of January, 1989, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Ed S. Chapline Sr. and Johnnie Mae Dickson Chapline.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Ed S. Chapline Jr.; as well as the mother of his children, Marian Grace Chapline Connell.

He is survived by his wife, Lynne Crowe Chapline of Marble Falls; and his four children, Lolly Chapline Lewis, William L. Chapline Jr. (Diane), Bryan K. Chapline (Beth), Lisa Chapline Brock (John), and grandchildren Jenny Shaw (Rusty), Amy Cohen (Bill), Lindsay Manes (Chad), Charlie Chapline, Amanda Chapline, Michelle Chapline, and Kyle Chapline; great-granddaughters, Shannon, Melanie and Claire Cohen; and great-grandson, Brandon Shaw.

Catherine Virginia Collum, age 74, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2016 at her home in Meadowlakes, Texas after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

Born in Abilene, Texas on June 4, 1942 to Melvin and Catherine (Holder) Collum, “Ginnie” spent her formative years with her family in Enid, Oklahoma.

It was there she met and later married John Knight, USAF.

Together they had two children and travelled extensively, both nationally and abroad.

As an officer’s wife, she was integral in managing the household through many relocations.

In 1976, the family moved again to Austin, Texas.

It was there, as a single mother, she supported and inspired her children by attaining her court reporter’s license and by her many years of excellence in her work for the State Board of Insurance.

In 1985 she married John Tryon and soon moved to Granite Shoals, Texas.

Carole Dee Rushing Lay, 68, was killed in a two-car crash Friday, July 8, 2016 on US 281 near Marble Falls, Texas. 
 She was born May 3, 1948 in Baytown to Nona Rushing and the late Ray Rushing.
Ms. Lay moved to Marble Falls in 2012 and immediately became involved in the community. She was an active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church where she taught adult Bible study and was a member of the Sisters of the King, a women’s organization supporting the church. 
She participated in the Mystery Book Club.
A 1966 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Ms. Lay continued her education at Trinity University in San Antonio where she graduated in 1970 with a degree in history and teacher certification.

Thomas Edwin Pearson, 67, went home to be with his Lord Wednesday, June 15, 2016. 
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gail Cheri Day Pearson of Kingsland; three children, Chandra Pearson of Kingsland; Corey Pearson of Bastrop; and Chris and his wife, Karen Pearson of Round Rock; grandsons Shea and Laken Behrens of Burnet; granddaughters Ashley Johnson-Sessums of Granger; Kristi Smalley of Holland; four great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law Sue and Jerry Payne of Bertram; brother and sister-in-law Lacy and Rhonda Pearson of Burnet; brother Billy Pearson of Liberty Hill; brother Chawa Pearson of Kingsland; and numerous nieces and nephews. 
He was preceded in death by his father, William Lester Pearson, Sr.; mother Mirel Lorine Ferguson Muhle; sister Helen Marie Pearson; sister Ima Jean Billings; and brother William Odean Pearson, Sr.

Jesse Thomas “TOM” Rice 85, passed away on June 29, 2016. Tom was born near Akron, Ohio to “Dixie” and Marie Warner Rice in 1931 and moved with his family to Austin at age 6 in a Model A Ford. 
 
Tom was a successful Austin Realtor for 60 years after graduating Stephen F. Austin High School and serving in the Texas National Guard. He retired to Horseshoe Bay in 2000 with his wife of 33 years Katherine Kerr Rice.
 
An avid golf member of the Austin CC, duplicate bridge player and loyal Longhorn fan, he also enjoyed the great outdoors through hunting, fishing, gardening, firing up the BBQ pit and volunteering at Laguna Gloria Fiesta and Safari.

Dana Sid Green, 91, passed away July 1, 2016. He was born March 22, 1925, in Marble Falls to Sidney A. Green and Ruth E. Powell Green. He graduated from Marble Falls High School in 1942; in 1949 graduated with a bachelors degree from Southwestern University in Georgetown, and in 1953 graduated with a master of theology from Yale University Divinity School in New Haven, Connecticut. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII from 1943-1945.

Jimmy Odell Duffy of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, passed away July 5, 2016. He was born June 19, 1938 in Norton, Texas to Claude Odell and Zora Lee Jones Duffy. 
 
Jimmy received his degree in Theology in 1975 and gave 28 years of service to the Lord as a Southern Baptist Minister.
 
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother William Duffy, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Geneviva of Horseshoe Bay, son Donald Wayne Duffy of Pflugerville, daughter Patricia Lynn Krenek and husband Gregory of Paige, grandson Gregory Krenek and wife Mariah of Houston, granddaughter Laura Mae Mutschink and husband Jordan of Bastrop, grandson Travis Krenek of Paige, great granddaughter Avery Rose Krenek of Bastrop and brother Joe Dell Duffy and wife Georgia of Petrolia.

Charlie James Maugham passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016. 
He was born on Dec. 12, 1933 in Mudd, Texas to James (Jim) and Ollie Maugham. 
He married Virgie Bell Newman, the love of his life, on Oct. 5, 1957. 
They moved to Marble Falls where they had 58 years of marriage which produced six children, four boys and two girls.
If you ever stopped by to see him he would ask you to come on in and if he was watching a western, he would like for you to watch it with him or if you smoked he would ask you if you wanted a cigar. 
He also enjoyed cutting the grass or working in the garden. 
During his working years, he worked for the City of Marble Falls, and he also worked building houses with Jim Carpenter and Tommy Long.
