Mustang season ticket renewal ends Aug. 16

Mustang football season tickets, parking passes to go on sale July 31

‘Meet the Mustangs’ event to be Aug. 23 at Mustang Stadium

 

Mustang fans who want to renew their season tickets for Marble Falls High School football can pick up their tickets, with payment, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, July 31, to Wednesday, Aug. 16, at the Marble Falls Independent School District Athletic Office at 2101 Mustang Drive.

The office is on the MFHS campus next to the Max Copeland Gym.

For mailed-in payments, tickets will be available for pick up 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday-Friday, from July 31-Aug. 16.

If mailing, they should be sent to: Marble Falls ISD — Tickets; 1800 Colt Circle; Marble Falls, TX; 78654

The price for Mustang reserved seat season football tickets is the same as in previous years: $45 per seat for all five home games, $15 for employees and $10 for ages 65 and over.

Mustangs mighty on the sidelines, too

Marble Falls High School Senior and cheerleader Anna Herrington and sophomore Hunter Gasaway (the guy in the  Max Mustang mascot suit are London bound after becoming Universal Cheerleaders Association All Stars.

Marble Falls High School cheerleader Anna Herrington and mascot Max Mustang (aka Hunter Gasaway) were named All-Americans at the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) Summer Camp.

Herrington is a senior and Gasaway is a sophomore. Their hard work earned a spot on the Varsity Spirit All-American London Tour for 2018.

The tour is a week in London with the top cheerleaders from around the country performing in the London New Year’s Day Parade.

In a week-long trip they will visit Buckingham Palace, The Tower of London, St Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, the House of Parliament, the British Museum, and Windsor Castle.

Participants take a Disco cruise on the River Thames, dancing the night away and ringing in the New Year with 800 new friends.

Mustang Boosters begin membership drive

Last year, the Marble Falls Athletic Booster Club made approximately $30,000 and members hope to continue to grow that amount every year.

The club is in the middle of its membership drive and is encouraging local residents to join to support Mustang Athletics.

“We’re working to make it affordable to people,” said Cindy Friddrichs, the club’s media coordinator.

The memberships include the following packages: Family ($25), Mustang ($50), Bronze ($150), Silver ($300), Gold ($575) and Platinum $1,000). Bronze and above come with two general admission passes to all Marble Falls Independent School District athletic events, while the pricier ones include various special recognitions.

“The money goes to all our sports, not just to football,” Friddrichs said. “We assist with other sports, such as power lifting, cross country, soccer and tennis. We have around 14 sports we contribute to all year long.”

Mustang Fans eager to renew their 2017 football season tickets can pick up their tickets, with payment, from July 31 – Aug. 16, from 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the MFISD Athletic Office, 2101 Mustang Drive.

Birdwell named interim head coach, AD at Marble Falls

Marble Falls High School has a new interim head football coach and athletic director.

Mustang Football co-offensive coordinator Michael Birdwell was named to the athletic director and head coach position Thursday, succeeding Matt Green, who will lead to take similar duties at Llano ISD this month.

Coach Birdwell has been an integral part in the successes experienced by the Mustangs over the past three seasons,” said MFISD superintendent Dr. Chris Allen. “With 76 days until the Mustangs’ first scrimmage, Coach Birdwell’s leadership and familiarity with the staff and the skills of our players will provide a smooth transition into the fall seasons for all of our athletic programs.”

The Marble Falls High School Class of 2017 graduated Saturday, May 2017, entering to the strains of Pomp and Circumstance onto Mustang Stadium, filled for the first time on both sides of the field.

Not only was a capacity crowd there to cheer them on, but viewers at home were welcomed to the commencement via live-stream telecast.

Valedictorian Madelyn Maples addressed the crowd as well as Salutatorian Meikala Hester.

National Honor Society (NHS) President Wolf Williams welcomed family and friends assembled for the occasion and NHS Vice PresidentStefanie King introduced guests on the podium, located for the first time on the north end of the field of Mustang Stadium. Prayers were offered up by NHS Secretary Megan Offutt and NHS Treasurer Abigail Weber.

Falls Career graduation tonight, MFHS graduation Saturday night

Falls Career High School will holds its graduation ceremony tonight, Friday, May 26, at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church,901 La Ventana Drive, Marble Falls.
Marble Falls High School commencement for the class of 2017 is scheduled, rain or shine, for Saturday, May 27, at 7:30 p.m.
To make the event accessible to as many Mustang fans as possible, attendees are invited to sit in both the visitor and home stands in Mustang Stadium.
“With attendance to the commencement ceremony out-growing available home side only seating, the graduation stage this year will be located on the north end of the football
field facing toward the field house,” said assistant superintendent of operations Jeff Gasaway.
“This stage alignment will allow attendees in both the home and visitors’ stands to see the festivities and their graduates as they cross the stage.”

Damon Adams named new MFHS principal

Marble Falls ISD trustees approved Hays CISD administrator Damon Adams as the new principal for Marble Falls High School during their regular board meeting Monday, April 17.

Adams will work with interim principal Emmett Aubry between now and the end of the current school year to transition to his full time duties as the new MFHS instructional leader in July.

Adams was recommended to the board by MFISD superintendent Dr. Chris Allen following an extensive selection process, which included community and staff input. A principal selection committee was established to help with the screening of applicants for the MFHS principal position, prior to the selection of the final candidate for board recommendation.

Alice! takes stage at MFHS tonight

Marble Falls High School One Act Play theatre students took first place in the One Act District competition last Wednesday, March 22, advanced from the Bi-District contest Friday, March 24, with a second place finish, and will now represent Marble Falls in the area contest this Saturday, April 1, at Claudia Taylor High School in San Antonio.

Residents can experience “Alice!,” the show that judges called “visually stunning, inspiring to watch, brilliantly staged, and genius!” in the MFHS Auditorium, today, March 29, at 7 p.m. The show is appropriate for all ages and tickets are $5 each at the door.

Go Lady Stangs! It’s been a BANNER year!

Marble Falls is proud of their Lady Mustangs making it to the regional tournament, so to celebrate, we have created, with the generous support of First State Bank Central Texas in Marble Falls, a special banner celebrating their achievement on pages 9A and 10A.

The Lady Stangs play the Corpus Christi Flour Bluff Lady Hornets at 6 p.m. Friday in the Region IV-5A regional tournament at San Antonio’s Northside ISD Complex. Corpus Christi Carroll and Austin High meet in the 8 p.m. game. The regional final is 3 p.m. Saturday.
