Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) employees teamed up to provide a bright start to the school year for area teachers and students.

Marble Falls High School Career and Technology Education program is making their presence known in the tiny home market after the latest completion of a major project.

“There were challenges along the way,” construction and welding teacher Shawn Reed said. “It's like building a house, but it's not. Everything is so small, but you're building it like a house. All the corners and transitions are trickier.”

The Mustangs football teams played their first of two scrimmages prior to the start of the 2019 season on Friday in Lampasas against a talented Badgers squad.
All of the highs and lows of an opening scrimmage were on display as the Mustangs scored a pair of touchdowns but also allowed some big plays on defense.
“I was happy we scored; I was really hoping we would,” Head Coach Brian Herman said with a laugh. “We knew we had a challenge (with Lampasas), and it was really good for us to pick this scrimmage up to see a good spread attack.”
The Mustangs scored on their third possession of the scrimmage as the newly-implemented Slot-T offense started to warm up. . . .

Dove season begins on Sept. 1 for the central zone which includes Llano and Burnet County.

The season extends through Nov. 3, then starts again on Dec. 20 through Jan. 14, 2020. Statewide falconry hunting season is Nov. 16 through Dec. 2.

Legal shooting hours are from one-half hour before sunrise until sunset. Bag limits for the central zone are 15 birds daily, no more than two white-tipped daily aggregate and three times daily bag possession limit.

As a child, I could not understand how anyone could consider eating anything Rare, Raw, Marinated or Spicy.

A young palate might describe those “adult” cooking features as – Bloody, Bloodier, Slimy or Murder-mouth.

As an adult with a more mature palate, I find myself craving such foods, but all too often my tummy has determined the more exotic the meal the more I need to temper food portions.

While the students were out for summer vacation, Marble Falls Independent School District was putting some of the money from last year's $55 million bond to work.

MFISD Superintendent Chris Allen said although there is plenty of work left to be done across the district, the administration is happy with the progress made prior to the first day of school on Wednesday, Aug. 21.

A recent two-vehicle crash on U.S. 281 sparked reaction from commuters concerned about the status of a blinking light at the intersection of the highway and Resource Parkway.

The incident happened around 2:15 p.m. Aug. 13 in the intersection of the four-lane highway. The location on the east side of the roadway is the entryway/exit to the Marble Falls Business and Technology Park. Pedernales Electric Cooperative is located on the westside of the highway.

Marble Falls city officials announced they will work out a deal with two property owners who accused the municipality of failing to offer “bonafide” offers for their land, as the city continued steps to transition the area near Lake Marble Falls into expanded park space.
