Kenneth Gene Walker

Kenneth Gene Walker was born to Creola and Adolph Walker on August 15, 1936, and died on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015.

His family was by his side throughout the final days of his life and rejoice in the knowledge that they were able to hold and comfort him as he peacefully departed this earth. 

Ken grew up in Weslaco, Texas, and later served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1966.  He met and married his wife, Valerie, while stationed in Madrid, Spain. 

This union was blessed with two children, Steve and Sara. 

He later served in Thailand during the Vietnam conflict and upon leaving the service he resided in Austin, Texas, where he was a Texaco dealer for many years.

In 1979, Ken discovered Horseshoe Bay, Texas and this beautiful community on Lake LBJ became his retirement home for the remainder of his life.

George Raymond Scruggs

George Raymond Scruggs

April 21, 1913~June 23, 1949

 

George Raymond Scruggs, the son of George Washington Scruggs and Zula Lee Venable, was born April 21, 1913 in Seadrift, Texas.

He was reported as having died June 23, 1949, in the Dominican Republic.

On June 19, 1949, Scruggs, a radio operator and engineer; John W. Chewning, pilot; and Habat J. Maroot, co-pilot; landed their PBY aircraft in the bay at Luperon, Dominican Republic, to deliver supplies and soldiers in support of the resistance against the Dominican dictator, Trujillo.

After their aircraft was destroyed by Dominican military forces, they attempted to escape overland to Haiti.

Captured by the military, they were tortured and executed on direct orders of Trujillo and buried in an unmarked grave on a hill overlooking the bay.

Chewning and Maroot were disinterred in August 1949, but George Raymond was left behind.

Aurelia “Rae” Louise Sell of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, passed away on Monday, Nov. 30, 2015.

She was born March 9, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, to Marian and Joan Zajac Bogdan.

Rae was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, Frederick Sell and Jay Strickland, and son, Scott Sell.

She is survived by: daughter and son-in-law, Heidi and Roger; daughter, Jill; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Esther; grandson, Scott, and granddaughters, Sarah, Rachel and Lauren, all of Texas.

A rosary will be held on Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, at 7 p.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bay.

A funeral service will be on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bay.

Barbara Sadler, 85, of Marble Falls, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. 

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church, 401 East Cypress Street in Johnson City, Texas.

Barbara Norman Sadler was born on Oct. 5, 1930, to David and Lucille Norman, a pioneer family of Killeen, Texas. She was the second of four children. 

She graduated from Killeen High School and attended Texas Christian University. 

Barbara married William King “Bill” Sadler on Dec. 25, 1949. Together they raised five children. 

They lived in Killeen where Barbara was a homemaker to the family and stood by Bill's side as he built businesses in the sheet metal, air conditioning and ready-mix industries.  

In 1978, they moved to Marble Falls.

Maybelle Weisinger Hibler

Maybelle Weisinger Hibler passed away on Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, at the age of 90 years.

Maybelle was born Aug. 24, 1925, in Hackett, Wisconsin, to Joseph and Frances Madglen Weisinger.

In 1931, with her parents, she moved from Wisconsin to Burnet, Texas, where her dad found work building Buchanan Dam.

She always said they never moved back to Wisconsin because her brother fell in love with Avis Schilling and her mother would not leave Texas without her son. Maybelle was a Texan from then on.

Maybelle married Richard ‘Dick’ Hibler on Nov. 20, 1943. They were married for 57 years at the time of his death.

Maybelle was preceded in death by: her husband; her parents; brother, Ray Weisinger; daughter, Cherry Hibler; son-in-law, Greg Thompson, and, great-grandson, Randall Hibler.

Agnew Blair Colyer

Agnew Blair “A.B.” Colyer, 80, passed away Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, in his home in Granite Shoals, Texas.

A.B. was born May 1, 1935, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, to Howard and Florence Pearl Williams Colyer. He was one of five siblings. His parents, siblings and first wife, Elaine, preceded him in death.

He is survived by: his daughter, Joanna Fowles; sons, John Colyer, James Colyer and Michael Colyer, who were born to A.B. and Elaine Colyer.

He was later married to the love of his life, Jacquelyn “Jacqui” Finnessey Wells, who preceded him in death on Sept. 29, 2013. He is also survived by his step-sons, Thomas Wells and Clayton Wells.

Although, not the birth parent of Katherine Wells and Carl Woods, A.B. could not have loved them more. He considered them his daughter and son and loved them unconditionally.

He is also survived by numerous grandchildren.

Jessie Lee Austin Myers passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015, in El Paso, Texas.

He was born May 7, 1993, to Nathan and Julie Myers.

Jessie is survived by his wife, Alisha Myers, and son, Noah, both of of El Paso.

He is also survived by: his parents, Nathan and Julie Myers of Marble Falls; brothers, Dustin Myers of Casper, Wyoming, Hector Saucedo of Fort Polk, Louisiana, and Nathan Myers, Jr. of Marble Falls; grandfather, William Brown; grandmother, Jolene Confor, and grandparents, Bobby and Sandy Newman.

He is also survived by other relatives and many close friends.

Jessie was a devoted family man who always made everyone laugh.

Arrangements were under the direction of Clements Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls.

Opal Louise Lawson passed away Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015, at the age of 93.

Born in Marble Falls, she was the daughter of Joseph and Ophelia Crider Walker.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Emmitt.

Opal is survived by: her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Beth Lawson of Marble Falls; daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and Tom Boutwell of Dallas; grandson, Andy and wife, Katie, of Salt Lake City, Utah; granddaughter, Carrie Driscoll of Fort Worth; grandson, Thomas Boutwell and wife, Maria, of Dallas; grandson, Brian Boutwell and wife, DeeDee, of Joplin, Missouri; great-granddaughter, Isabella Driscoll of Fort Worth; great-grandson, Matthew Boutwell of Dallas; great-grandson Dakota Boutwell of Joplin, Missouri; great-granddaughter Ashton Boutwell of Joplin, Missouri, and great-granddaughter, Audrey Brynn Lawson of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Ethelyn M. Doze died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015. 

She joined her husband, Joe Doze, 6 months to the day of his passing. 

Ethelyn was born on Dec. 13, 1938, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, the daughter of Elmer and Margaret (Berg) Lerrbakken and the oldest of their 10 children.
After graduating high school, Ethelyn attended Southeast Area Vocational School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where she graduated with honors, with a degree in accounting. 

She worked many years for an insurance company in Sioux Falls. 

During that time Ethelyn met the love of her life, Joe Doze. 

They moved to Marble Falls in 1994, where she was employed at Mustang Implement.

She is survived by: her granddaughter, Miranda Diespieger; brother, Michael Lerrbakken; sister, Candela Lerrbakken, and sister and brother-in-law, Anita and Duane Heley.

Celia “Sally” Beltran was born on Oct. 10, 1949, in Burnet, Texas, and passed away on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, in Round Rock, Texas, at the age of 66 years.

Sally was married to the love of her life, Frank Beltran Sr., for 44 years. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother of six.

She had a heart of gold and always opened her arms to anyone and everyone.

Many will remember her for the love she had for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as for cooking.

She was always willing to help others and taught her children to do the same with the utmost respect for everyone.
