Sidney Ray Stapleton was born June 12, 1941, in Marble Falls, Texas, to W. H. (Sammy)

Stapleton and Ruby Chaney Stapleton.

He moved to his eternal rest on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2015, surrounded by his family members.  Sidney is survived by his soul mate of 42 years, Priscilla Stapleton, by two sons Kirk W. Stapleton and wife, Linda, of Spicewood, and Keith A. Stapleton and wife, Lesley, of Driftwood; one grandson, Jakob Stapleton; a brother and sister-in-law, Cecil and Mona Stapleton of Marble Falls, and one sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Gary Gibson of Austin. 

Other survivors include: step-sons Marshall Wier of Ericson, Nebraska, and Blane Wier of

Johnson City; grandchildren, Lariat Wier of Johnson City, Roy Wier and

Jackie Donald Brim

Jack went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015. 

He leaves a powerful legacy as a fine Christian man, devoted husband and loving family man. He was a retired veteran having served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Air Force. He served in Korea and Vietnam. 

After retirement from the military, Jack served the Central Texas area as a master electrician.

Jack was preceded in death by: his wife of 45 years, Patsy Lewis Brim, and a son, Allen.

He is survived by: his wife of 10 years, Johnie Gary Brim;  daughters, Tammie Perry and Lori Jackson; grandchildren,  Michael and Regina Perry, Gary Reimers, Melissa Perry, David Perry, Dylan Jackson, Dalton Jackson and Devon Jackson; great-grandchildren, Brendan, Ashlyn, Brooke, Emeree, Michael, Kenzleigh and Mia; brothers, Jerry, Sammy and Larry and a sister, Sherry, and their families.

Bette B. Berry was born in Houston, Texas on Dec. 7, 1932, to parents Harold and Opal Bauer.  She passed away Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015. 

Bette graduated from Spring Branch High School in 1950 and married her high school sweetheart, Jim Berry, on Dec. 12, 1953. 

She was a career woman with a great business mind. In her early years, she did book keeping and office management, but her true passion was real estate. 

She and Jim owned their own real estate business in Houston, which they sold when they moved to Burnet in 1979 and opened another real estate business. 

Bette and Jim moved to Horseshoe Bay and Bette joined Horseshoe Bay Corp. 

She considered her clients and co-workers as her second family. 

Bette was a very hard-working, dedicated and successful real estate broker. Most of her time was spent doing real estate.

James “Jim” Robert Kirkpatrick, 83, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 31, 2015.
Jim was born Dec. 12, 1931, in Joliet, Texas, to Robert Louis and Willo Kirkpatrick.
He was loved by all as an industrial arts teacher at Refugio High School for 15 years. He retired from the school system and went into business for himself building custom homes and remodeling.

He later moved to Fredericksburg and continued building and remodeling.

Upon retirement, he resided in Granite Shoals on the lake.

Minnie Laverne Warner Rasco, a resident of Marble Falls, Texas, was born in Mission, Texas, on Nov. 23, 1932, and passed from this life on Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, at the age of 82.

Laverne is survived by: her husband of 65 years, Billy James Rasco; her daughter, Jean Rasco of Denham Springs, Louisiana; her two sons, James Warren Rasco of North Bend, Washington, and Bobby Joe Rasco and wife, Pam, of Cedar Park, Texas; her sister, Merle Johnston of Zachary, Louisiana; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, John and Beulah Warner Warner; her sister, Dorothy Duty; her brother, Jack Warner, and her granddaughter, Sommer Rasco.

Laverne was an active member of the Marble Falls Church of Christ. She loved her God above all else, loved her family and was loved by them.

Wanda Evelyn Smith, born April 22, 1935, in Hargill, Texas, to Chester Nelson and Susie Lorena McDowell Smith, died on Tuesday, Aug. 25, in Marble Falls, Texas.

She was a direct descendant of Gordon C. Jennings, who died at the Alamo.

She attended schools in Falfurrias, Texas, and upon graduation, was named Outstanding Senior.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wharton, the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Alamo Defenders Descendants Association, Senior Friends, Wharton Book Review Club, Friends of the Library, Wharton County Museum, Patron of the Arts at Wharton County Junior College, associate member of the Sheriff’s Association of Texas, a life member of the Wharton County 100 Club, and a life member of the Wharton Community Theater.

Marvin Darrel Thurman, born May 19, 1937, in Austin, Texas, to Truman Darrel Thurman and Ethel Leola Thurman (Hudson), passed away on Aug. 22, 2015, after a long fight with illness.

Darrel was a native Bee Cave, Texas, resident who was an avid supporter of the rodeo community and a lifelong rancher and cowboy loved by many.

Darrel was preceded in death by: his parents.

Survivors include: his wife of 55 years, Barbara Nell Thurman (Parker); his three children, sons Jeff Thurman and Brad Thurman and daughter Dana Yarter; three grandsons, a granddaughter and 1 great-grandson, as well as his sister, Shirley Grumbles and her three sons.

Visitation was at Clements Wilcox Funeral Home on Monday, Aug. 24, from 5-8 p.m. and the services were at Bee Cave Baptist Church in Bee Cave on Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 11 a.m.

Bob Dawson was born Sept. 27, 1927, and passed away on Aug. 22, 2015, at the age of 87 years. 

Bob was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma, as the youngest of four children of Mary and George Dawson. His siblings preceded him in death.

Bob married Media See on May 28, 1948. They had two daughters---Elizabeth Dawson Humphrey of Dallas, Texas, and Barbara Dawson Shelton of Gunnison, Colorado.

He joined the Merchant Marines as a 17 year old and sailed across the Atlantic on ships carrying wounded servicemen from Europe to the United States. After the war, he moved to Borger, Texas, and joined his sister and brother in law in a small business.

John Kern, 86, of Marble Falls, died peacefully in Georgetown, on Monday, July 27, 2015. 

John was born on Nov. 11, 1928 to John and Cynthia Kern near Liberty Center, Ohio.  He relocated to Texas in 1973.

He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, as well as travel, fishing, wood working, and the Texas hill country. 

He worked as a manager at auto dealerships until his retirement in 1994. 

John is preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, the former Ann Vickers; his brother Dale; daughter Lori, and granddaughter Wendy.

Larry Angelocci of Meadowlakes, arrived at heaven’s 19th hole on Wednesday, July 29, 2015.  He ended his journey as he lived his life, with no regrets.

His life journey began in Wyandotte, Michigan on March 4, 1941.

After losing both of his parents at a young age, he lived a fast and furious life in anticipation of not seeing age 50.
