Phyllis C Halloran

Phyllis Halloran, 73, of Meadowlakes passed away on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, at her home in Marble Falls.

She was born on March 16, 1942, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, the daughter of William and Mary Yetsko.

Funeral services for Phyllis will be Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, beginning at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Rosary will be Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015, at 5 p.m. at the Clements Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation to follow.

Phyllis graduated in 1061 from St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

She subsequently attended Harper Method Beauty School in Rochester, New York.

She then worked briefly as a beautician in Williamsport.

On April 20, 1962, she married Michael Halloran and began an exciting career with her husband in the United States Air Force and took off to Ramey AFB in Puerto Rico.

The sun broke through the clouds as the angels lifted the beautiful soul of Lois Elaine Reitz to Heaven on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015.

Nine days before Christmas 1930 (Dec. 16, 1930), Lois was born on the family farm in Liberty, Kansas, to Lester Robert Hoobler and Fern Marie Beair Hoobler.

A celebration for Lois Reitz will be held at The Church at Horseshoe Bay on Monday, Nov.  9, 2015, at 10:30 a.m.  and the theme is “Sunshine” so all those attending are encouraged to wear yellow.

Lois was the 1948 Senior Queen of Labette County Community High School in Altamont, Kansas – the “largest little town in Kansas.”

She fell in love on a blind date with an Army guy that had just returned home from Fort Lewis, Washington. She married Richard C. “Dick” Reitz in Bartlett, Kansas, in 1949.

Betty Jean Sylvester, 84, died Monday, Oct. 26, 2015.

Betty was born on Dec. 12, 1930, in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Harry and Estelle Hall.

On June 16, 1947, she married the love of her life, Robert T. Sylvester, who preceded her in death on March 13, 2014.

In 1982, Betty and Robert moved to Granite Shoals, Texas.

Betty was a member of the Daughters of The Republic of Texas.

She is survived by: her daughter, Nancy Sylvester; son, Barry Sylvester and wife, Liza; two grandchildren, Cameron and Kaycee Sylvester, all of Granite Shoals; sister Dorothy Lease of Worthington, Minnesota, and brother, Allen Hall of Arlington.

A memorial service for Betty will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, starting at 2 p.m. at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls.

Harold E. Ripley, Jr.

March 12, 1943~Oct. 15, 2015

 

Harold was born on March 12, 1943, and passed away on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015. 

Harold was preceded in death by his beloved son, Patrick Edward Ripley, a brother, John Ripley, and his parents. 

Harold was raised by his grandparents, Earl J. Baker and Mary Belle Baker. 

He joined the United States Army in 1961 and retired in January 1981 as a Sergeant First Class.

He then moved to Taylor, Texas, and was blessed, given the opportunity to meet and create a lot of lasting friendships in Taylor and the surrounding areas.

Mary Kathryn McGanity

July 10, 1925~Oct. 1, 2015

 

Mary Kathryn McGanity passed away on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015, in Atlanta, Georgia, and went to join her husband, Bill, through God’s grace, in heaven. 

“Mary McG” will be remembered always as a loving woman who gave her all to her husband, her extended family, her friends (new and old,) her pets, and to everyone she encountered.  

She will be remembered by her family as a loving, caring and guiding mother who lived by continuously giving and providing a lifelong model to her family of how to live well.

Mary never knew a stranger.

Mother Mary was born on July 10, 1925, in Montreal, Quebec, to Louis and Lucille Hambrock. 

She went on to complete her undergraduate degree at McGill University in Montreal.  She met the love of her life, Bill, skiing in the Laurentian mountains in Quebec. 

Bill and Mary married and resided in Toronto.

Harry Keil

Harry Keil, 78, of Buchanan Dam, Texas, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015.

He was born on Sept. 2, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Fred and Dorothy Keil.

Harry was the owner and operator of Llano Refrigeration in Buchanan Dam.

He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force and an avid pilot. 

He enjoyed spending quality time with his family, as well as spending time with his dogs and horses.

He is survived by: his children, Diana R. Penelas and husband, Manny; Dorothy R. Keil, and Harry Keil Jr. and wife, Amy. He is also survived by grandchildren: Nina R. Riley, Nicole R. Mac Mullin, Selena C. Keil, Harry C. Keil and Sabrina C. Keil; great-grandchildren Carter W. Bickett and Oaklyn Rae Goethe; siblings Raymond, Richard, Robert and Betty (Belknap).

Harry was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick.

Lonnie David Gaston, 80, of Marble Falls, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, after a lengthy illness. He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Wanda Butler Gaston.

He was born on Feb. 15, 1935, in Stamford, Texas.

He lived in Morton, Texas, before moving to Marble Falls in 1965.

He was an excellent auto and heavy equipment mechanic.

He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and he had a special love for animals.

He is survived by: his wife, Wanda; children, Clinton Gaston and Lowan Gaston Freberg; grandchildren, Jessie Gaston, Christie Gaston and James Rutherford; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Kaylee and Myles, his pets Mazy and Peanut; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Delores Gaston of Jayton, Texas; sister, Nina Wood of Round Rock, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth Schneider, 81, of Kingsland, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015.

She was born on Aug. 8, 1934, in Taylor, Texas, the daughter of Carvin and Ann Burran.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Raymond Schneider; son, Kevin Schneider, and brother, Jerry Burran.

Ruth is survived by: her daughter and son-in-law, Suszanne and Jackie Zajicek; granddaughter, Tracy Allen; great-grandchildren, Corson and Lillie Allen, and a sister-in-law, May Burran.

Visitation with the family will be this Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. at Clements Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls, Texas.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, starting at 2:30 p.m. at Clements Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel.

Johanna Wilson

Johanna Wilson

Nov. 21, 1919 – Oct. 23, 2015

 

Johanna “Johnnie” Wilson was born Nov. 21, 1919, in Seguin, Texas, to Charles and Paula (Henze) Starcke.

She was the youngest remaining of five children.

In 1939, she married Myers Hardy Wilson in Blanco, Texas. They enjoyed 66 years of marriage until his death in 2005.

In the early years, Johnnie worked in a munitions plant making ordinance, and as a beautician. She later worked as a full-time wife and mother to two sons.

In her spare time, she pursued her interests in flowers, sewing, music and art by joining Ikebana International, San Antonio’s Fiber Arts Guild and Sweet Adelines.

In 1980, when they moved to Lake LBJ, she continued her passions with the Highland Lakes Art Guild, Marble Falls Garden Club and the United Methodist Church Choir.

After their retirement, they enjoyed traveling in Europe, Hawaii and Alaska.
